I want Gremlins 3 as a R-rated gorefest.

If anything, a Gremlins sequel/remake should stay closer to the tone of the original film - funny in a very dark and twisted way, as opposed to the outright cartoonishness of Gremlins 2. You start making it bloody and gory, it loses a lot of its charm and spirit.

If I were doing another sequel, though, the stakes would have be dramatically escalated from the first two films - in the first movie they took over a small town; in the second, a New York high-rise; the third one would have to be the Pentagon or something equally cataclysmic. By that nature, it would also have to be the last film, so I'd probably send Gizmo out with a bucket from the Colonel five minutes past midnight

Gremlins doesn't need a remake. It needs a sequal. Make it a nice trilogy.

how did you feel that with the squeal, it was played as a spoof of the original and sequals in general, this was pretty upfront with the intentions

I don't know, I guess I didn't think that it needed to be spoofed, least of all by its own franchise. I watched it once, and never felt the need to watch it again.

What did Joe Dante exactly feel was wrong with a third one? He should be all over this, and it would market itself, not only for old fans, but kids would be all over it, violence and all. I just want Gizmo back.
