I feel like DC still doesn't know what they're doing

Most of them are both.
I wouldn't describe Planet of the Apes as quirky but weird for sure.

My point being that Burton's Superman Lives would've been awful. Anyone who doubts that, go watch the documentary "The death of superman lives." Anyone who still doubts it after that, you're either delusional or are one of the people who can enjoy movies like X-Men Origins Wolverine and Batman and Robin.
(That's hyperbole btw, but not by a lot)

I agree. Look what was being done that time around, Batman Forever, Batman & Robin, Steel... that was how DCE/Warner was like in mid 90s. I get the shivers everytime I see Nicholas Cage in those tests :woot:

Yeah I watched that documentary a few months back. And while it was very interesting, if that movie actually ended up getting made and released, it would have been terrible.

I never felt we missed out with Superman Lives.

We missed out on something super interesting and crazy, but I don't believe we missed out on a good movie.

That is a good way of stating it.

in hindsight i would rather seen crazy SL than uninspired SR tbh.

And my point is, your on drugs if you think Burton's Superman would be on those levels of awfulness. It probably would've been a fantastic movie to watch while being as high as you sound. hahaha!
Still waiting on that info by the way.

What are you 12? You think mentioning drugs constitutes a joke then repeat over and over. On second thought, I think you probably would have loved that movie after all.

Oh man, I didn't realize that documentary made it out yet. I heard a bunch about it and then nothing. I know what I'll be watching tonight.

I don't know, I really don't think Cage would've been bad as Superman. I would've gladly given him a chance.

Tim was on fire in the late 90s too. I truly think we missed out, but that's just me. I've seen the documentary and read a ton about the movie and seen all the concept art. It looks amazing to me.

Of all the failed DC projects, Lives is the one I'm most disappointed about.

There are pics of Cage in the suit that look bad, but those are clearly just early shots. This shot was closer to what the final product would've been. Call me crazy but I don't think he looks bad at all.

I realize this is blasphemy to a lot of you. I'm still a Cage fan though.

I'd take Superman Lives over Superman Returns, Man of Steel, and BvS...

I really do like the latter two, but I think Lives would've been better. That's just me though.

Is that the Lives suit? Well...nobody can say it's not nice and bright, or that the colors are muted into a dull pallette.

Maybe Vaughn will lighten up the suit. It looks black in certain light.

I really hope they go with Vaughn for Superman... I wouldn't even mind if he completely rebooted Superman.

Cavill, Adams, and Eisenberg could all be replaced. Sequel or reboot, I'm cool with either.

I don't want a reboot. I want to see what Cavill and Adams do with a script that isn't so ****ing dour. Eisenberg can go... I can't wrap my head around what Snyder saw in his performance because he sounded so excited every time it came up. And I'm one of the few that don't mind the colors in MoS, etc. I'm just not the biggest Supes fan, so all I really want is an enjoyable movie that actually makes the true Supes fans happy. If y'all get that, then I'm sure it'll be a film I enjoy. The only thing that kinda worries me about Vaughn's statement is his reference to a modern day Donner movie. Anytime someone says anything about modern Donner I can't help but think of SR. Again, I certainly didn't hate it, but I just found some choices odd like making Supes a deadbeat Dad...

Cage is awesome and if anything, his Clark Kent would've been amazingly quirky and hilarious. That's honestly the part of his Superman interpretation that I was more interested in than anything else.

I don't want a reboot either but I can't stand Adams as Lane. I've been wanting to kill her off just so she can get gone.
I loved Eisenberg's Lex and though it certainly wasn't what I expected, I thought he was the best and most entertaining thing about BvS. I'd love to see him grow in this role.

My concern with Vaughn making a superman flick(Outside of taking influence from Donner. *ugh!*) is his work with CGI. All the CGI in his flicks for the most part look absolutely terrible. I'd honestly prefer if Vaughn worked on the film as a writer/producer and let Snyder direct again. If they were willing to.

Snyder's movies are super dark and ugly. I'll take shoddy CGI over that.

i know what you're saying, but that's like saying I'd rather eat garbage than crap. I mean, sure I guess, but I'd rather not have either. Give me something actually good.

IIRC correctly he was going to have 2 suites. The regular suit you see above and another one after he came back to life, which was a black suit and from concept art I saw it featured some sort of razor wire around different parts of the costume.

I am 1000000000% convinced that Vaughn is the man for the job, theres no one else I'd prefer. The tone of his films is perfect for a Superman film. Fun, lighthearted, optimistic. He's going to nail it.

Cage is a cool actor who takes a lot of heat, but he would not have made a good Superman. The costume looks bad, too.
