I got the shaft!!!

:lmao:

Somebody woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning.

Chill out, it's his first job and he's 15. He came here looking for advice, now he has a better understanding of it all.
I guess he doesn't watch the news because if he did he'd know millions of Americans don't even have work. He should be thankful he has a job in the first place. If I had to work those hours I'd work my ass off and show them I'm a good worker.

When I was 15 I didn't watch the news.

Nah , I'm just tired of seeing people that don't even deserve their position b**** and moan , while people like me get f***** by the system.

Maybe it's your attitude?

Just sayin.

I actually act respectfully during job interviews. I show up 20 minutes early to the interviews in fact. Then I answer their questions to the best of my ability. Everyone that I've worked for , even the ladies in the counseling office when I TA'd for the counselor in High School , said I'm the best worker they've ever seen.

I guess I don't blame the kid for being bitter about getting 2 hours of work. I got my first job when I was 16 and it was a full-time summer job. Saved up my money all summer to buy my first computer, Compaq Presario "Internet PC" with dial-up Netzero internet access.

Aahh...how large the phone bill was.

Hey $14 dollars a week is nothing to sneeze at :)

Guitars under $1000 are usually crap, cheep woods, machine built, sloppy fit and finish, crap electronics and wiring. I've got two Carvins, a DC 200 I got for $1700 and DC 400 for $2100 as well as a Jackson SLH that was $1500 at the time. Just a matter of how seriously you take your playing, for me it's a big part of my job so I have to buy quality. Those are not even the tip of the iceberg when it comes to cost either, I've played guitars that cost more than some small cars.

I would have to respectfully disagree. You don't HAVE to buy quality, you just WANT to. I know what its like - I'm a gigging musician as well.

Yes, for the most part you do get what you pay for (i wouldn't spend 400 for a ****** PA system), but there comes a point when you're just paying for the brand name. Being a serious player, I've bought several guitars over the years, and some of the cheaper ones play and sound better than my more expensive ones.

Of course, I'm a fan of buying slightly cheaper and modding. I bought an epi Black Beauty for $500 a few years ago. Swapped out the pickups ($170) and changed the machine heads ($25), and I would play that before a $1000 gibson any day.

That being said, how do you like the DC200?

And? If you have the luxury of only worrying about paying for a guitar, you shouldn't be complaining about the hours you work.

True, but he is 15. No mortgage, utilities or anything else big to pay. Priorities are different then. I remember myself at 15, I only cared about karate and guitar so I totally understand. Besides, he wants to make his first big purchase with his own money, oddly enough, my first big purchase was also a guitar.

That's all fine and dandy - don't complain about it.

It's his first job, take it easy on him. We have all pretty much explained that being new he's gonna get crap hours.

Everyone *****ing at him needs to repeat to themselves the number 15 and remember that priorities, bills and everything are very much different at that age. My first purchase I bought with my first job was a video game system. Things are just different at that age.

I remember being fifteen.

And I wasn't like that.

He wanted our thoughts, so, we're giving them.

I don't work, I don't have bills. I luv being a teenager.:hehe::oldrazz:

Uhhm, I call ******** on that, Bamf. You were most definitely like that. Everyone whined about trivial things when they were 15. It's part of growing up for EVERYONE.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. You can't paint this perfect image of teenage Bamf all you want, chances are you did. Everyone does. Trivial things mean so much more to someone who hasn't seen the real world yet.

I was, by no means, perfect, but I wasn't entirely focused on material items.

When I was 15, I was more worried about MY DUDE GETTING RIPPED in GTA: San Andreas.

Yup. I don't buy into the "oh so evolved" teen. Everyone was the same, screwed up priorities and all. I graduated high school at 16 and many would think that would make me some sort of mature kid but I was just the same. Smarts, or not kids will be kids.

I remember friends of mine getting jobs at that age just so they could by a video game or guitar or bass or amp and the moment they had enough money they quit. It's just how it is as a teen, you are short sighted and you don't have that many responsibilities.

Wait, doesn't "getting the shaft" in terms of a job mean getting fired?

Indeed. See, trivial things are just more important to people who are that age. I worked at McDonalds for all of a month to raise money to get a video game systems and the games I wanted then quit. People just are different then.
