  • Yes its fine that he's a regualr guy that applies white make-up

  • No because his skin should be bleached like its always been

I really enjoyed the way in which Burton gave The Joker a raw sexuality that made him genuinely threatening in some quite unexpected ways. In a rather macabre sense, he was a bit like Punch; persuing, abusing and destroying women who caught his eye.

It wasn't about whether he liked the music or not. It's the ridiculousness of the music itself.

In TDK, The Joker will dress up in a nurses uniform. Does this mean he is into cross-dressing? No. He does it because its inappropriate.
Precisely.

Joker doesn't necessarily have to be a Prince fangirl to enjoy dancing to the silly songs. He'd like anything that was loony and fit his crazed behavior.

The Joker would listen to Rammstein. Heath's Joker, at least.

That doesn't sound like The Joker to me. Rammstein is to serious. For some reason I always imagined The Joker listening to really strange old records. Herb Alpert and the Tijuana brass comes to mind. I could see him pasting the HAHAHA times together while listing to Tijuana Taxi. He'd probably have the tv on too turned up all the way just to clash with the music.

The Joker listens to Beethoven. Ultra violence and classical music go hand in hand as proved by Alex DeLarge:woot:.

"I Can't Decide" by the Scissor Sisters is probably the most Joker-ish song that I've heard thus far. I can also see him doing some wacky (and disturbing) stuff while the Benny Hill theme song plays. :oldrazz:

"the show must go on" by queen is a perfect heath tribute

"Inside my heart is breaking
My make-up may be flaking
But my smile still stays on." :csad:

"I'm a killer, and I'm a clown..." Alice Cooper. Desperado.:woot:

How does The Joker see himself? I tend to think that he would make the argument that he represents the liberation of the human spirit and will, opposed to Batman who seeks to conquer and subdue both.

I can see The Joker cruising the streets of Gotham in a stolen Ferrari to the tune of "walking dead" by Puressence.

Let's view it as it is. That dancing bit is advertising. Simple as. Prince brings out a new song and not only is it in the soundtrack (Which is fair enough) but the villain has to dance to it.

I'm not sure I agree with you here. It's never struck me as advertising.

You know, Jack Nicholson got messed around in so many ways. If they ever want to do The Dark Knight Returns it would be a perfect chance to bring Nicholson back. But without that stupid permanent smile, with a costume that works and with the same killer lines he had in 89.

Well if they do that, they'd better do it soon. Jack is 70 now. He's already to old. Just like he was last time. It would be fun to see.

Because, let's be honest, he was the perfect choice for the role and because of Burtons vanity he had to dance like a moron. You get a great actor in and make him dance to Prince? Lunacy.

This is debatable. Jack was good. But I would say his performance was far from perfect. I've never read anywhere that Jack was forced to dance to Partyman against his will. Jack was just having fun and hamming it up. The character presented in B89 lends itself to that. But I think there are aspects of The Joker left woefully underplayed by Nicholson. I will agree he is a marvelous actor.

And in terms of realism I feel that it is not necessarily important. As long as I can believe something could possibly exist I'll be happy. That's why Killer Croc works and Clayface doesn't. Because as long as it's feasible and not too cliched it's fine. Take Batman himself. I fully believe he could do what he does because he has the funds for it. Whereas the Spiderman character just seems like some nerd fantasy (super strong, genius, married to a supermodel). Realism isn't the key here, it's all about moderation. Making things fantastical enough to be enjoyed whilst not so grounded that it is stripped of its appeal.

Well said.

:pal: Totally agree with the Benny Hill theme. I've never heard "I can't decide." I'll check that out.

The Joker should listen to "They Might be Giants". How about "Particle Man"? He can replace "Particle" with "Bat", of course. :joker:

Finally someone says it. This song is so perfect it's almost as though it was written for the character.
It's not easy having yourself a good time
Greasing up those bets and betters
Watching out they don't four letter
**** and kiss you both at the same time
Smells like something I've forgotten
Curled up, died and now it's rotten
I'm not a gangster tonight
Don't want to be a bad guy
I'm just a loner baby
And now you've gotten in my way

I can't decide Whether you should live or die
Oh, you'll probably go to heaven
Please don't hang your head and cry
No wonder why
My heart feels dead inside
It's cold and hard and petrified
Lock the doors and close the blinds
We're going for a ride

It's a ***** convincing people to like you
If I stop now, call me a quitter
If lies were cats, you'd be a litter
Pleasing everyone isn't like you
Dancing jigs until I'm crippled
Slug ten drinks I won't get pickled
I've got to hand it to you
You've played by all the same rules
It takes the truth to fool me
And now you've made me angry

I can't decide Whether you should live or die
Oh, you'll probably go to heaven
Please don't hang your head and cry
No wonder why
My heart feels dead inside
It's cold and hard and petrified
Lock the doors and close the blinds
We're going for a ride

Oh I could throw you in the lake
Or feed you poison birthday cake
I won't deny I'm going to miss you when you're gone
Oh I could bury you alive
But you might crawl out with a knife
And kill me when I'm sleeping

That's why I can't decide Whether you should live or die
Oh, you'll probably go to heaven
Please don't hang your head and cry
No wonder why
My heart feels dead inside
It's cold and hard and petrified
Lock the doors and close the blinds We're going for a ride

I never understood this criticism. Any actor should have fun with The Joker, and would ham it up. We all know Ledger will ham it up "C'mon! Hit me!" and it's not like he hated playing the role. And that's good.

i just saw charlie and the chocolate factory and i feel johny depp would be an excellent replacement as the joker, he has the look and the skills to fill in ledgers shoes!

I say we still need to see Heath's joker first to decide who can replace him.

I just cant see Depp doing that growling voice that Heath does when he says "come on, hit me". He is much slimmer and much less manly than Heath in appearence. God damn isnt there a lazarus pit to use on heath?

I just hope that we see the joker in the third film. The joker is the greatest villain batman has ever had. You cant suddently erase him when it was planned that he would be in the third film. Give us a joker even if he isnt as good as heath's.

PS: and please dont use the joker as some rumors suggest. Like silence of the lambs and *****. Joker helping batman catch Harv. I mean...seriously!

Did you imagine Heath doing the same before the trailer? Both him and Depp have naturally deep voices, and the latter can do growly as well (Sweeney Todd).

Give us a joker even if he isnt as good as heath's.
What a wonderful suggestion.
