So my maid quit, causing me to have to clean my house. Sadly, this was not a skill I was ever taught. I have every cleaning supply i think exists and no idea how to use any of them. The only thing i know is that i have to sweep before I mop, but i dont even know what I'm supposed to use to mop!

Help!

its not posh to have a maid, most ppl that I know have maids and ppl that cook their foods

Yeah your posh friends! haha

If you dont know how to clean you should kill your self

1. Pick up cleaning product
2. Turn over so back faces you
3. Find part that says "directions" or "intructions"
4. Read
5. Apply knowledge to dirty substance

$50? for a whole house? no wonder she left...

50 bucks? Who the hell were you exploiting?
Unless you have a small house that can be cleaned top to bottom in about an hour.

i would have paid her more, it be worth it so i didnt feel so supid.......

how much do you all reckon a house would cost to clean.

for example

2 bedroom, living room, toilet/wash area and kitchen.

i did my flat yesterday and it took me two hours, i wouldn't pay anyone more than 20/25 quid to come in and do it for me. but i only have a one bedroom place.

Well think of this as a time to learn a little self reliance. If you don't learn it, you're in for some hard times.

i am self reliant, i cook my own meals, support myself, etc. i just dont know how to clean.

oh and my house is a 3/1 with a kitchen and a great room. its really not as big as it may sound.

Well what's the saying...cleanliness is next to godliness.
Learn to clean and then go around telling everyone you're a god...it'll be amusing.

Kaboom just hire another maid...simply as pie....

buy some general cleaning material such as a

broom
dust pan and brush
some bowls to place water in
bucket
mop
scrubbing implements
a metal pan scrubber
cloths
wipes
some bleach
disinfectant
bath cleaner and your tiled regions of your bathroom
something for your wooded areas
window cleaner
mildew remover (sometimes combined with bleach)
carpet stain remover
detol
toilet cleaner
rubber gloves

once you've purchased these items, just follow the instruction on the back of the packaging, they generally give decent advice on how to use their products. The rest of it comes with practice of just knowing what works and how long each things take so you can multi task etc.

I hope you find this useful, if you had enough time you may end up saving quite large proportion of money $1,200 per annum (if you assume you'll spend 75 on cleaning equipment in your first year etc..).
