....okay, this is for your gut reaction right after the movie ended, and everything that culminated after that point! Pure fan reaction (good or bad). We want the raw truth hear, and don't worry, let EVERYTHING hang out here!

sorry...been there and done that. I would do it all over again if only I could see it again.

First of all, I DID see X3 on Friday night, aka "The Big Night", but i do have a life, and i wasn't able to get to the computer ALL weekend. So my best friend and my girlfriend and i were in line to see X3. Already some asswipe kid was trying to spread spoilers throughout the crowd. By grace I avoided what he said but my girlfriend later told me he was saying, "the bald man dies, the bald man dies!"... Let me just say for the record that if i would have heard THAT i would have walked right over to him and hit his ass in the face!!!! there is no excuse for that!

Anyway, we get in there and there's this little 4yr old bouncing up and down in front of me and running around b/f the movie started...not to mention the negative speculation on the hype and the personal pressure i put on the movie. That's a LOT a negativity going into the movie and I was worried sick that the entire experience would be DESTROYED!

Well, the 4 yr old girl was good after the OPENING SCENE, and i was able to "get into" the movie.... After it ended my best friend is A D D and was all over me for a reaction... I couldn't speak! I was in shock...

...So my bf is trying to get some sort of response from me, and i'm like "shut up!" ...."i don't have anything to say right now!" And this went on for the next upteen minutes.

let me just say i was experiencing literal SHOCK from this movie! I couldn't even form an opinion of whether i liked it or not until the next day. That was my INITIAL reaction!

I felt the same way...Saturday, I sat down and watched X1 and X2... I paid close attention to Jean, prof x, and Logan and Scott all the way through, oh and Bobby and Magneto. ... After that, I really wanted to see X3 for the third time.

I just said to my boyfriend how "****ty" it was, we were both pretty optimistic going in. He agreed with me.

But I also had to pee really badly and as much as I love X-Men, I wanted it to end quickly.

4 days later and it still saddens me :(

My instant fan reaction?
"Thank God it's over. I need to pee."

I pretty much was like that for the first 30 minutes after seeing the movie too, just utterly shocked....then it sank to me that I did in actuality like the film.

Here's the deal, my first reaction, FIRST reaction was;

"That director, those writers, and them moviemakers have got some REAL BALLS for what they did with that material!!!" -Prog (to his girlfriend)

That's my tagline for that movie! They went some places in that movie and did some things to some SACRED characters that took some REAL balls! I don't know if i'll hate it or love it, long term...but that's what i'm still taking away from it.

For all those who say it was a good film for how much time they had to make it, I still say it's a load of garbage to throw something like that on the screen and call it good. They were trying to hit a deadline of memorial day weekend in order to hit a max payday. They (I don't know who to blame as they - Fox?) just wanted a film to be there on memorial day rather than a good product. Despite there being good action and seeing great use of superpowers I am dissapointed because this movie could have been so much better. In my mind X2 was far better. X2 should have had more superpowers on display and X3 should have had a better script.

The massive 1 hour 44 minute storyline was this:

Jean supposedly dead --> Jean discovered as Phoenix --> Humans find cure --> Magneto rises against humans --> Humans rise against Magneto --> X-men join battle to stop Magneto and Phoenix

THE HATE LIST

  • Hated look of juggernaut
  • Hated lines of juggernaut
  • Hated no colossus/juggernaut fight
  • Hated that alkaline lake is involved - AGAIN
  • Hated how Wolverine is the one to save everyone again - his healing factor enough to save him from Phoenix. Again the studios had to follow a leading man formula that focused on Wolverine instead of entire cast.
  • Hated that cyclops was killed off. He should have bascially not been in the movie.
  • Hated that the professor had to die.
  • Hated the actor playing the President
  • Hated how some of bad guys weren't true to comic book powers
THE WHAT I WOULD HAVE DONE LIST:

  • More Iceman footage and use of powers
  • More Colossus and a fight with Juggs.
  • I would have picked a different actor for Angel and would have had him tied into the original X-men like Beast was in the film. Ben Foster was too little boy like. Wouldn't be the best replication based on looks from the comics.
  • Would have had a flash back to original X-men.
  • Would have had Phoenix developement hinted at in the beginning and then developed toward the middle of the movie. Scott would have found her at the lake and her telekinetic shield would have saved her. Maybe she should have been found in X2 and just in a coma into X3.
  • Would have made this movie longer.
  • Would have had use of Sentinels other than danger room
  • Might have saved cure storyline for X4 and gone with internment camps for mutants through highly developed Trask storyline and capturing of mutants via Sentinels. Or the cure could have been in X3 in addition to the attempted capture of mutants via Sentinels. How? It could have been a rise of a few bad mutants that causes the government to act and attempt to intern not just bad ones but all mutants because they had developed a cure - a hidden agenda of a few unbeknownst to the President.
  • Would have had Cyclops and the Professor live.
  • Would have made Juggernaut more bad ass instead of campy. Don't know if I would have kept Vinnie Jones. Wanted a more true to comic Juggernaut size and strength. Would have loved a different helmet style though. Hated the look of his S&M outfit. Would have covered at least his chest and waist. Based on effects in Hairy Potter, League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, and many other films - they could have made Juggernaut true to comic form. In Elektra they made that big guy massively strong and he crushed trees. Would have loved to see more damage and distruction by Juggs.
