I know who the new Daredevil is (SPOILERS)

he's clearly looking at hulking, who's next to DD, and who asked the question. you're projecting. don't do that.

Also, i have an unrelated question -- HELP -- can someone tell me why a super soldier needs glasses? cap was wearing them. is it just part of the disguise?

Projecting? well i said "appears to be", i just said how it looks to me. If that's what projecting is... then yes, yes i am!

and yep, i guess the glasses were just a part of his disguise.

Funny really, a lot of people must know what Cap looks like from when his ID became public knowledge. and a pair of glasses does the trick?

Marvel, you have your Superman...

just out of interest WOLVERINE25TH, I know you don't speak the way you type, but how do you speak normally? thick Brooklyn accent?

So I haven't read Daredevil (or really any other comics, for that matter) in quite some time. Would anyone mind telling me what happened to Matt Murdock? DD was my favorite Marvel character growing up.

alright, these are big spoilers, so if you really wanna know keep reading...

matt murdock is in federal prison. the fbi have pending charges against him, and for the "safety" of new york's civilians, he's been locked away in rykers for the past several issues, until his trial (which doesn't seem to coming anytime soon).
AND there's a new daredevil running around hell's kitchen. his identity (or...hers) has yet to be revealed. but the following people are accounted for, so it's not them:

bullseye - he's in prison with matt
spider-man - he's got his own crap to deal with.
punisher - also in prison with matt

the list of likely suspects is hawkeye, fury (either of whom, i'm under the impression are the new daredevil), and iron fist. some say taskmaster, but i think that's a bit of a stretch.

violent vigilante wasnt it? also where does foggy's death feature in this? and isnt ben ulrich being used to reveal matts identity as DD?

^Thanks for that. Why is Matt in jail, though?

for whatever reason, the feds have a hard on for convicting him. the charges are being a vigilante, but as to the "why target matt", is a little unclear at this point.
also, to answer the pokershirt's question, foggy died in prison while visiting matt. it appears the feds are also behind that. the reason being, is that since the kingpin is also in prison with matt, he'll assume the kingpin was behind foggy's death, and the two will kill each other, thus killing two birds with one stone.

at least, that's what the kingpin wants matt to believe.

So it is known that Matt was Daredevil? As I said, it's been a while...

This theory is nothing new, me and my friends figured this was a distinct possibility months ago....this also is not a "spoiler" kd.

I'd kindof like to see matt Murdock start his own little gang in prison with Frank Castle, the Punisher on his side. and then others can join if there are any other heroes in prison. Then they could have Kingpin have a gang, with Bullseye as his bodyguard.
It could be a spoiler if someone doesn't want to hear anything about who might be Daredevil, like people who don't even want to watch trailers or commercials for movies.

Of course I was talkin' about little nuances like what I do with my text speak. Ya know, droppin' Gs, sayin' yer, little stuff like that distinctive to characters.

Fury usedta have that kinda speech, but it's been missin' fer some time. Thing still has his to some degree, but it's been dumbed down considerably. Last I checked, Gambit and Rogue's accents've seemed to been on vacation as well.
I always found that writing accents like that was a tad patronizing, if not confusing when over-used. Having a Scottish woman say "wat kin ah do" instead of "what can I do" is just plain asinine. Spelling a phrase incorrectly implies that the writer thinks someone with said accent speaks incorrectly. A character drops a G at the end of an -ing word? Fine. They say "gonna" and "wanna" instead of "going to" and "want to"? Fine. Those are improper contractions. Completely changing the spelling of a word a character says the whole way through (ie. can-kin, your-yer, I-ah) is just weird to me. I've actually read Rogue's dialogue in X-Men comics, and thought she was sighing in all of her sentences because she kept saying "Ah."

I know that's how you type, but I don't like reading that in comics & scripts. Misspelled words like that feel foreign to me, and ruin my reading pace.

Okay, huge tangent.

I think when it is done right, and not patronizing or steriotypical, that can really help make a character more realized. Like having wolverine do that, he speaks with a gruff yer instead of your. And it helps me creat his voice in my head or imagin what voice actor would play his part.

Anyway, maybe its Echo. Just kidding.
when will they reveal the new Daredevil's identity? How many issues?:daredevil

I'm thinking of drawing Nick Fury in the Daredvil costume holding the mask in his hand, just incase it isn't Fury. I like that idea and I think that would be a cool image.

It can be done correctly when written well, such as Proteus in all of the recent Exiles comics. You can see that he has a thick accent and still clearly make out every word he says.

i used to hate readin rogue's dialogue too, but i do think accents are that sorta way of showing them are necessary

It's a good guess. But I doubt that it's Fury.
Yeah, i can't see Nick Fury becoming an acrobatic ninja. And aren't fighting styles like fingerprints?.....oh wait thats DC. But seriuosly, i think it would be a huge physical stretch for Nick to become DD. Sure he could wear the costume and talk the talk, but he would have to have one hell of a supersuit to be able to pull all those patented triple, one legged, spinning, balancing on a beam, swirling, somersault roundhouses that Matt's known for. My money would be on Iron Fist. I think we're giving marvel too much credit with the Nick Fury abgle

Kinda off the subject, but has it been explained how hawkeye came back from the dead? I mean, i thought he was re-erased in HOM. I mean, of everybody who remembered, i'd think they would be looking for him or something.

Nick Fury's got lots and lots of martial arts training, and he's probably physically about a 35- to 40-year-old. If Batman can still do the acrobatics he does at his age, I don't see why Fury couldn't do the same as the wannabe-DD. People seem to underestimate him because he's been behind the big desk at SHIELD for so long rather than out in the field.

I would think of Nick Fury's style similar to that of Capt America. More judo takedown and special forces hand to hand combat than pure acrobatics and ninjitsui. DD is more Dick Grayson than Bruce, and damn Bats is 40? thought it was early 30s

Late-30s is the last I heard. It makes sense if you consider that Dick himself is now in his late-20s.

Fury has had bona fide martial arts training. I imagine his fighting style is normally similar to the less artful, more practical style employed by the likes of Captain America, since he's a pragmatic guy and isn't too concerned with wasting energy hopping around and looking cool. But that doesn't mean he couldn't hang with the ninjas if he wanted to, and if he's trying to impersonate Matt, it'd make sense for him to change his style.

I think for storyline purposes, Nick Fury would be the best fit for DD2, but it would be believable only if Cap was in on it too. That would be a pretty cool moment for them to assault the Helicarrier and for him to unmask in front of Agent Hill and all the mislead Shield agents and just take back his ship/crew like Jack Sparrow (sorry, big POTC fan). But again with the Hawkeye references, do the MU from HOM remember him? Or would his comeback be a surprise for everyone?

I'd say it'd be a surprise since no one's mentioned anything about Hawkeye post-HoM, but given the current writing staffs of the characters most closely associated with him, it could just as easily be that they just haven't felt like tackling that particular issue. :o

Well you got to ask yourself this, what does Nick Fury have to gain from impersonating Matt?

I don't know, I'm not even reading Daredevil. What does Hawkeye have to gain from it?
