It's kind of the opposite for me. I initially didn't read any comics of any kind as a kid, since I thought you had to be a super serious comic book fanboy or something like that. Kind of funny, though, considering that some of my favorite shows growing up were Batman: The Animated Series and Superman: The Animated Series. t:
Well, about a couple years ago, I started reading manga, which is very similar in that it's very dialogue driven and visually grabbing; that kind of laid the groundwork for me. Then, about a few months ago, after watching
All-Star Superman on DVD, I thought to myself, "I got to get this comic series." So, I went to my local Barnes and Noble, bought the first volume, and ate that up. They didn't have the second volume, so I had to order that.
Since then, I've pretty much been getting any good comic I can find. I also got
Superman: Birthright (probably my favorite, so far),
Superman: Earth One, and, just recently,
Green Lantern: Secret Origin in preparation for the new
Green Lantern film. I'll probably also get
Batman: Year One, since I've heard really good things about that and because there's a movie adaptation coming out in a few months.
