Fant4stic I think this deserves its own thread...Josh Trank denounces Fantastic Four

I'm curious to see if Trank shows up for the final interview with Kevin Smith.

I haven't listened to the first 3 yet, but I'm very interested in hearing his thoughts on everything that's happened in the last week.
I'll bet he'll wait for this die down first. After all an analyses calculated that his tweet cost them $10 million, he may face a lawsuit. Smart thing to do is lay low for a little while, plus that can insure a more honest interview.

I doubt FOX wants the extra bad publicity a lawsuit would almost certainly bring.

Depends on how his contract was written. If he was paid a flat fee. They'll move on, and he's already blacklisted from working for another major studio.

If he has any scheduled bonuses on his contract, they could sue him for breach of contract to not pay him. It won't be anything that will receive much publicity as the lawyers will handle it behind the scenes.

Really? In the podcast, they say the next part will happen once the reviews are out and Kevin's seen it.

I just really want to know if it'll come out. Things have gotten rather icky now.

I don't know, as another director and after having Trank on as a guest, I can't see Smith ripping it apart. I recall, he was pretty soft on his evaluation of Daredevil, which he did work on and one of his friends was in, even if it was just a cameo.

Suppose that Trank's director's cut did somehow get a DVD/ BR release and it did equally bad if not worse than FFINO the theatrical release. Then what will Trank have to say about that? What excuse can he come up with this time? Where would his so-called masterpiece movie with amazing reviews be?

Does anyone really care? Does taking a wrecked car probably from his family's dump to Planet Zero really salvage this movie?

The "Part" episodes are always just cut up from one long one... just so each episode never clocks in over an hour and a half.

The interviews with a few people before like Dini, Adams, et cetera.

True, though I got the impression this one actually was being done at different times.

Just saw the movie.....I wasted 10 bucks. Not sure what exatly i was suppose to be seeing, a movie that never devloped anything and literally felt rushed and devoid of any joy or real enthusiam even from the comic relief. Not sure if Trank is to blame or fox or Kinberg and the producers.....though Trank should of kept his mouth shut or atleast said things differently.

Why would you waste money on it? If you're going to see it, don't pay for it.

Honestly, I think if they get the rights back, they will do an origin. The reason is that there has yet to be an actual *good* FF origin story, and the multiple attempts so far are all pretty far from the canon one. Its not like with Spider-man, where the Raimi movies already gave us a 90% perfect origin. That, plus the fact that a Fantastic Four origin story would give them the perfect chance to introduce and advance *other* setting elements at the same time ( say, whatever they encounter on the space mission ). It wouldn't have to be "an hour waiting for the heroes to become super and do stuff".

JOSH TRANK SIGNS ON TO DIRECT GREEN LANTERN 2
HOLLYWOOD – Following the remarkable success of Fox’s Fantastic Four, talented wunderkind Josh Trank has been signed on to direct Green Lantern 2.
The 2011 DC Comic film Green Lantern starred Ryan Reynolds and was directed by Martin Campbell, receiving universal critical acclaim and becoming a box office smash. Talk of a sequel began immediately, but partly because of Ryan Reynolds having scheduling issues and partly due to script issues the sequel seemed to be in an endless delay.

A Warner Bros insider spoke to Studio Exec EXCLUSIVELY:

The problem with the Green Lantern was that the original was so good everyone was intimidated. Martin wasn’t interested in coming back. As far as he was concerned, he’d hit a home run so why try again and risk only spoiling his record. Ryan has gone on to Deadpool off the back of his iconic success in the film. But when we all watched the new Fantastic Four we realized that at last here was a director who could do justice to this amazing character.

But surely everyone is saying that Fantastic Four is a disaster?

A disaster. It’s the Fantastic Four for crying out loud. Okay, we all have doubts about this kind of move. When we first saw Chronicle, we thought this guy is out there. Totally not a fit for Green Lantern. But when we saw Fantastic Four it was like someone turned on the lights. Yes. This is it. This is the Green Lantern 2 director.

Ryan Reynolds is unconfirmed as yet in the title role but rumors are that he will be on board.

Green Lantern 2 will be released in 2020.

Michael B. Jordan will replace Ryan Reynolds. Only he won't play John Stewart. He'll play Hal Jordan. That's the kind of creative reasoning they hired Trank for in the first place.

Maybe a composite character called John Jordan? It will give the bonus of an alliteration.

:lmao:

Jade will now be a Kosovo war orphan. She'll use her powers maybe twice. Look forward to it!

Thomas Kalmuka - 43 confirmed kills.

Plot:
After an hour of a miserable backstory that goes nowhere, Hal (MBJ) gets chosen as a Green Lantern. Cut to one year later: the Lanterns all mope about the Green Lantern Corps using them as weapons. Misery, misery, misery. Then a battle with Sinestro.

I'd be willing to bet that that vindictive ******* Trank released the F4 trailer the same day he was fired from Star Wars. If you'll remember the F4 trailer mysteriously leaked while Gareth Edwards was on stage at Celebration.

WouLD the director have the power to do that?

As for Fox and Marvel, Fox should never give them Xmen. They are doing great with it despite their Wolverine obsession. And apparently they care more about them than FF.

Anyone with access has "the power" to do it.

Like Fox is going to spend any more money on this turd with a "director's cut."

So... same cast (hypothetically), same universe, same established backstory (if you can call it that; an odd thing to consider since the movie's basically all backstory) and yet somehow a completely different and (reactionary) film experience than this? How? If you course-correct enough to change the tone (and character interactions, and visual language - including costume and character design) into what it should be, how is it even a continuation?

I can't fathom the amount of coke it took for Fox executives to collectively achieve that level of cognitive dissonance, but, I imagine it's a lot.
