The defenders have been wrong about everything, everything.

According to them there were no behind the scenes troubles, Fox didn't have the embargo because they knew the film wouldn't review well and the film was going to be a big hit even without half way okay reviews. Usually when I'm wrong about everything I own up to it. For instance I over predicted the film by first predicted 43mil, then predicting 37mil and finally settling on 34mil. I wasn't right about that. I wasn't right about that, I'm not going to pretend otherwise.

Fox did what studios do all the time, frustrate the filmmaker and Trank responded in the worst way possible, he is not some innocent little lamb and that is valid thing for me to write even though I've never directed a found footage movie and one of the worst reviewed films ever.

They've ran away to the X-men boards to derail threads there talking about F4. At this point they may just as well ask for the positive thread to be opened again if they want to carry on as if this mess is any good and Fox are still great at everything.

The sad thing is that if Trank had held things together and managed to be professional throughout the production this film could have done his career a lot of good no matter how bad it turned out. Being a guy that was able to hold things together when he is dealt a crappy hand is the sort of thing that gets people noticed with the people who count. His reputation might have taken a hit with the public but the money men would have noticed him as someone who can handle pressure situations.

This is absolutely true too. Ah wells.

There's a reason why Disney let him go from Star Wars before FF even came out, before he started acting like a petulant child on Twitter/4chan. Studios don't let directors go for fun or for mere rumors - it's work finding a replacement. There was talk behind the scenes about what happened on the FF set. The movie industry is a small world, and people talk. It's in a director's best interest to do the best they can with whatever they're given, especially when they're new to the big studio system.

As long as the movie can get made, it doesn't matter if actors show up hours late or hung over. (As long as they're still insure-able - Lindsay Lohan is so bad she can't even be insured.) Quite a different case with the director, who's supposed to be the captain of the ship. If you want to be irresponsible on a set, DO NOT be the director.

Trank put together what they wanted. He filmed the superhero action movie with no action and brought it in on budget. Fox then was apparently shocked their non-action superhero movie didn't test well?

He reshot it and I guess didn't see much of it since he was shut out of editing.

Nope, according to Trank's fans it was impossible for him to walk away from the project. They haven't given a reason why it was impossible but for some mysterious reason it was.

It's not impossible. It is hard though. That's the trap of getting younger creatives on stuff.

The entire comic industry was built on using young Jewish kids to churn out your favorite characters and signing junk contracts.

If you don't step up to the challenge then you can't take the pressure and miss opportunities and if you fail, you suck and couldn't take the challenge. That's why so many people take on jobs they wouldn't for less pay than they are worth.

But did it come in on budget? If the rumours are true it had extensive reshoots that requires sets to be rebuilt, he wasted time on CGI that meant that other studios had to be brought in, and he kept changing his mind so that the CGI studios kept going behind schedule. I really doubt that was built into the original budget, or that cutting the 3D conversion would have covered teh costs.

The only person who said that it came in on budget was Kinberg, and he does not have the best track record when it comes to the truth with this production.

Lexi Alexander gave a fascinating account of her experience making Punisher: War Zone on "How Did This Get Made?". She knew from the start what she was trying to make, which was fully embraced by Lionsgate. Not once during that interview did I get the impression that she holds as much disdain for her movie than Trank does, just the way Lionsgate followed through and released it.

The movie only had 3 sets? How could re-building sets be expensive?lol

Well the aside from burning the 3D conversion budget. The 3 action shots they cut brought the budget down to 120 million range so yeah, unless I hear otherwise.

Trank played the game. He got Star Wars while all this was going in Baton Rouge. He had SW all the way until what... March...through much of the reshoots. Once he lost it, I bet he had some kind of epiphany about what playing along was actually getting him.

For the record, I liked the preceding two Fantastic Four films. The second one was immensely better than the first. What I liked about them was that they successfully captured the tone of the original comics and had some neat ideas. However, they missed some key elements as well. And now the reboot exploded on the launch pad...if we count Corman's film, there have been four Fantastic Four films, and none of them have reached 'The Dark Knight' level of quality, or heck, even 'Batman Begins.' It is sad: the comic gave birth modern Marvel, but, the film adaptations have continually declined to read the level of quality the franchise deserves. Hell, Ant-Man played all of the vital notes right -- venturing into other realms.exploring, the Doom/Richards tension with Pym/Cross, the balance of humor and drama, and the Jack "King" Kirby visuals: the Quantum Realm and model train fight could easily been ripped from the pages of the magazines Kirby illustrated.

I'm talking about yesterday. This isn't about Studio wars with me. And I'm sure some defenders will come to there senses eventually and realized that Fox foolishly doomed this project from the beginning.
