I Want 1080p on My XBOX 360 (Premium Edition)

Not all games support 1080p. Microsoft policy only requires 720p. Some go up to 1080i and take the middle ground.

Any chance this is possible? I think it's unfair that I got the Premium XBOX 360 (with no HDMI support) and the only possible HD quailty I can get is through the component cables that came with the box, but it only can go up to 1080i, not the full 1080p

Is there any news on an add on or exchange the Premium/Core versions of the 360 for a system with HDMI for a charge?????
how it it unfair? You got what you paid for and it was a 360 w/o HDMI

i paid the same price that it's now
but when you paid for the system, you paid for a component based 360, not HDMI as that was the only way it was available. Sucks for you that bought one early, but its not like you were jipped bc you got what you paid for. Thats just the nature of how things go

Okay, here is the update, hopefully somebody out there is having the same problem or can point me in the right direction:

- I have a 1080p Westinghouse HDTV, and it allows 1080p
- I have the Core 360 (without HDMI) and I have the 360 HD-DVD player
- I set the Dashboard to display 1080p, and it does ... on the dashboard
- I play Halo 3, and it's displayed in 1080p
- I pop in a HD-DVD, and it goes to 1080i..... and NOT 1080p

So, basically in summary, it's a HD-DVD player issue. Anybody having this problem anybody bothered to check?

Ok, guys, I think everybody here that is confused with all these cables and wires and which ones offer 1080p and 1080i can find this link useful

http://www.xbox.com/en-US/hardware/xbox360/hdtv.htm

The main thing in that link is the useful/easy to understand chart:

VGA cable, here I come! :bh:

Anybody out there happy and fully understood? I know I am in clearing up all this confusion.

ok guys, now we know that VGA gives you 1080p when watching HD-DVD's on the HD-DVD player add-on, which is a good VGA cable that does it's job and reasonably priced.

What VGA cable do you use?

anybody?

I got my answer from Microsoft, after 4 emails, those bastards finally answered my question, all I wanted was a Yes or No.

You hook up the a VGA cable (assuming your HDTV has VGA and it's 1080p) and you get 1080p when playing HD-DVD's

At 42" you aren't really even going to be able to notice a difference. You basically need 50"+ to tell a difference with 1080p.

I plugged in the audio cables, it would help if somebody have the VGA cables out there that i purchased

Make sure they're in the right Audio jack for the setting your TV is on. Also, make sure the right colors are in the right females.
