The Simpsons has gone so far downhill. I didn't play the game or watch the last ten seasons... but I saw the movie and it was awful.

Yeah.. I didn't like it much either. I personally loved the Simpsons back when it was Season 1, 2, 3.. and not Season 5,763.

It's just the same joke over and over again. Homer acts stupid, Bart's lost his edge, Lisa is boring, Marge is pointless and Maggy really hasn't contributed to a single show.

Yeah. (I enjoy how we're having conversations across four different threads)

I do as well. It takes me back to the days when me and GFreeman would be talking about Deus Ex and Morrowind in about five different topics. It just doesn't get any better.

This is what the Games section is all about. I remember when it was like this all the time, every time, back in the day in the "old" Games forum.

P.S. Morrowind = heart.

True, we need to start a Deus Ex/Morrowind thread... so we can be allowed to talk about it under the watchful eyes of Matt. Maybe something to do with fully-realized worlds in RPGs or something.

Yeah. I actually find myself wishing that Oblivion was as good as Morrowind sometimes. Without the Shivering Isles expansion, Oblivion was just one giant forest. It was sort of depressing considering how varied Cyrodiil was supposed to be.

I know. I don't know exactly what went wrong... maybe it was the level scaling afterall... but something magical in Morrowind just didn't make it into Oblivion. Oblivion is a great game and everything, but Morrowind was just one crazy adventure after another.

I think it was the level scaling combined with the lack of variation, coupled with the fast travel. You never actually had time for an "adventure" because you spent most of your time in a loading screen just clicking your way through the game world. The big, far-reaching quests weren't there either. There was never one that really pushed you to your limits and tested your resolve. It was just sort of meh.

I just hated how it felt like I fast-traveled myself from place to place because the scenery was too boring for me to bother with. Morrowind was marvelous. Oh, and the lack of actual open cities. Meh. I hate, HATE loading into cities. I love free, open worlds.

Morrowind had a LOT of imagination put into it's environments. I really felt like I was in a new world in that game, as opposed to a 15th century version of this one. Maybe that's what it is. Elder Scrolls 4 just felt very LOTR-ish. Conservative...

It just wasn't the good old Morrowind that we all knew. :csad:

Oh well, hopefully Fable 2 will make up for the disappointment of Oblivion. But that's not the only disheartening thing. I can't believe Bethesda said they're done with the Elder Scrolls franchise. :csad: :csad:

Did they really? That kind of stinks. If Fallout 3 delivers I can see them doing another one of those, but Elder Scrolls has to go on at some point. Single-player RPGs are dying off... slowly and painfully. :(

Yeah. There's few good western RPGs out anymore. You have Fable, which is more of an action RPG.. and then you have Bioware cranking out it's odd-RPG/Strategy-style PC RPG. If Bethesda stops making the ES games, I think we're going to be left with Final Fantasy games.. :csad:

Final Fantasy isn't even an RPG anymore. You level, sure. You get new weapons too. But there's little role-playing as the story is so freaking linear you can't have any impact on it and any replay value would only make a difference in the freaking turn-based battles.

Yeah, I don't like the direction FF went in. I remember the days of actual good JRPGs.. like Legend of Dragoon, etc. Those sorts of games are becoming fewer and fewer, though.

All we have nowadays are FPSes. ****.
