The Dark Knight Rises IESB: Script is IN!

'The Dark Knight' director Chris said: "He is trying not to cling to the things that have worked in the past."

I think that line ^ pretty much means he is throwing away The Joker character. Well darn.

I didn't get that at all.

I didn't either. Might as well throw the character of Batman away.

Uhhh...what are you talking about?

I think it means he won't design it the same as he did before. Begins and TDK had differences in story telling methods and style even. I think some are looking into it way too much.

But *sigh* this is why I stay away from a lot of boards until more info is received. The fun of the internet....home of blowing things out of proportion and reading into things too much.

I thought it was in reference to the previous series.

Guys, that quote by Nolan is about Jeff Robinov, one of the top executives at Warner Brothers. Nolan was referring to certain ideas that WB as a studio has used in the past. Robinov is taking more risks (Inception and Watchmen for instance) while also cutting down on the number of projects each year so that the studio's focus is on quality rather than just quantity. Here is the NY Times article to provide some context of what Nolan was referring to:

Edit: Yeah, what he said. Thanks. ^

I was under the impression that he wasn't even talking about Batman, but about that other guy's choices with being different with films.

Nice, no reason to freak out. But I guess some like to do it.

Always can count on red to set the record straight.

Correct. The article was about Jeff Robinov's vision for Warner Brothers. He is basically second in command right now but is soon going to take over when Alan Horn retires. WB is the biggest movie studio. They produce more films than anyone else. But Robinov is trying to move towards a focus on quality rather than quantity. And he also wants to avoid so-called "cookie cutter" fare, which is why you end up with Inception as their 2010 tentpole movie. That's a pretty damn big risk at this point. And the budget they pumped into it is a big gamble as well.

Inception will be tell us alot about where Batman 3 is headed. Most franchises become more studio driven as they proceed, I think this one will be more a product of Nolans vision than any either BB or Dark Knight. He's the golden man at WB he'll do whatever he wants and whatever he's doing will be weird as hell I think.

Well hopefully he doesn't do a wierd batman. Great news though, 2012 release is definitely possible now.

Is Inception even being touted as a 'franchise'? I've always thought of it being a one-off film, just doesn't seem like the type of film (from what little we know) to become a series.

Anxious for more concrete news...
The best new of all would be Catwoman out of the third movie hehe
:woot:

i honestly don't think we can expect virals until either

A) right around Inception's release

B) Filming start.

I was joking. Obviously its too early for that, but i cant wait for the new film!

i am just hoping for no catwoman and no robin.

I am hoping for the riddler.

I am so pumped for this news!

Ah thanks for clearing that up:yay:

yah I was thinking the same thing. I didn't know this was some kinda franchise...

Batman 3 will probably be a failure if they don't include Robin.

This is directed at you as well as JMC. I think Nepenthes was talking about Batman 3 rather than Inception.
