It doesn't mean it will have the same effect on the movie thought.
I didn't say it did. Just saying that more people have seen SV than have seen SR. Do I have proof? Nope. None whatsoever, so it's just an opinion. I'm basing it on the fact that SV has been around for seven years and has had more exposure than SR.
Yeah, but Welling has more of a supermodel look than those guys.
Yup.

Though Reeve was quite a looker too. Why do you think these actors are so popular with female audiences?
Not Superman material there.
That's your opinion. I want a beautiful looking man cast in the role. He's Superman; he should be super in every way. Would you settle for a Cloris Leachman as Wonder Woman?
And I never heard Reeve was a model too.
Yup, I believe he was. Somebody can correct me if I'm wrong.
I wonder if George Reeves & Kirk Alyn were model too. Heh!
Dunno 'bout them, though for their time, they were very good looking men. Reeves especially.
But the problem is, people want someone because they are popular.
Sure, but Johnny Depp is a hell of a lot more popular than Tom Welling, and he doesn't have the fan push for the role that Welling has. In Welling's case, fans want him because he's Clark Kent, and they love his characterization.
I prefer someone to play a role where they can act, not look alone.
Same here. Welling fits that bill quite nicely as far as I'm concerned. YMMV.
Reeve is a perfect example of that. Many fans boycott & were hell-bent when he was picked to play Supes, since he wasn't popular & not a big name.
I was 13 when S:TM unspooled in '78. I don't remember *any* fan backlash about Reeve. What I do remember is people asking if Chris was related to George because of the similarity in names. Other than that, the kids in my class couldn't stop talking about Superman. My girlfriends and I went to see it five times in the theater. That might not sound like a lot to you, but there was only one other film I saw five times IN the theater, and that was Star Wars.
And yes it can get them money, but not in a good way with bad acting.
I think Welling is a fine and capable actor. I don't know who else might be cast, but I'm fully confident in his ability to pull of this role effortlessly.
That what I'm concern when it come to Hollywood. I wish people look at acting, not just look with bad acting.
I do look at acting. Quite meticulously, in fact.
In the old days, people were cast for their acting & not look first. *sigh*
May I ask how old you are? Because appearance has been a huge component in motion pictures for quite some time.
Even if it Routh or Welling, I think business will be about the same.
I think there's a "buzz" factor that Warners is also looking for. Welling has one heck of a devoted fanbase, and that's important in getting the hypemobile into gear.
But why if Welling isn't cast, you won't see it?
I said no such thing. I said if Routh were cast I wouldn't see it. Why? Because I thought he was a poor actor with very little charisma or visual appeal. I'll give any other a chance though.
PS: Sanchez is on the phone now. Oh man... the suspense is KILLING me.
