well we didnt see him walking around in skin tight tee shirts either ala welling. I dont see how you can say he doesnt look big enough and then say he looks like he lifts every day while Welling is naturally big. He's not.

The way your body looks in pics generally depends more on lighting, angles, ect. An actually interesting observation would be routh are low quality in motion pics. Welling is POSING in many of the pics of his muscles udner light angled and designed to make his muscles show.

Nice to see Welling isn't big either there. In all fairness, their build are similiar compare that to Routh as Supes. The way how Routh look when he isn't playing Supes, it look quite the same as Welling there.

I'm a huge SV fan (duh! lol) and I didn't see ONE direct homage to SV in the entire film. No references to Lionel or Chloe by name, Kuwachi caves, Clark growing up with Lex, Kryptonite being a common rock in Smallville, Metropolis being three hours away, or Lex's early 33.1 experiments. No references to cloning, super soldiers, Mxy, Brainiac, Zod, Supergirl, vampires or even 400 year old dead witches. I mean, not even a nod to Lana Lang. Hello?

SR was an ode to Donner. C'mon people. SR had NOTHING to do with SV, which I think warrants a big fat hallelujah from EVERYBODY. Right? LOL

Considering how bad Smallville is with it's own continuity then yes I agree Hallelujah.t:

But come on, Singer did want to keep the franchises seperate, but the heat vision effect was a straight nod to Smallville instead of the solid red beam.
Shelby, I only knew of from Smallville, so they chose the same kind of dog.
And I don't know about L &C, but the fact that he wore it in Smallville was a subtle nod imo.

that topless photo of tom is from like 2 seasons ago, so it is hard ot judge his muscles and all that from that photo. Every season he has been more bulkier or more leaner but season 6 and 7 looks like he has bulked up a bit.

Yep. I find it odd he keep changing shape every season instead of staying the same. Especially when Superman's body can't do that. At least I assume Supes's body stay the same for a long time. Or maybe he's an alien, that their body change too much.

Anyway my original post was not to make out that Routh was tiny and Welling was big - far from it. I clearly stated both of them were big guys and certainly bigger than the average man on the street, however Welling just seems to have more bulk/broader than Routh and to me at least, has a more natural Superman build.

Think again. Routh was not able to get to "full size" before they started making super suits. Thus, having to hold back for fear of damaging these suits while wearing them.

It's been reported before, and part of it is just common sense. When a skin-tight suit is modeled after your body, it's recommended to maintain the shape/weight at the time of the molding, for best fitting.

I'm surprised you're oblivious to this. I thought it was just common knowledge at this point. Anyway's, I'm not even saying Welling isn't capable of getting larger than Routh. If fact, given the opportunity for them both to really go all out, I think Welling would top Routh. Up to this point, both have been told to hold back for different reasons of course.
