Has any reliable source (Variety, EW) said anything about Welling being in the running for Superman? I mean apart from IESB, who I don't think are 100% credible, and this crazed fangirl at CD?

yea i read the gough interview, i stated before yea it would be cool for welling to be superman but i think it would be a stupid move with smallville still filming and all that, he better thing to do is either let routh return and see how he fairs with new story and director or just get some new unknown or semiknown actor for the role.

WB is notorious for keeping their branches seperated, case in point Dini and Timm. It would be against the norm for WB to take their lead actor from one of their succesful shows and move him over to television. Not saying it's not possible considering Smallville is on the downswing, but it would be unsual for WB to do this.

You mean between Welling and Routh in JLA? I don't really have a preference at this point to tell you the truth. I think they are both capable of playing Superman.

I don't think so, it's pretty much just Rob and the psycho CD girl, both of whom are strong SV/Welling fans.

That's not true. Jayne at CD is a SV/Welling fan. Sanchez on the other hand has made it clear on several occasions that Welling isn't his first choice; he's just reporting the news as he hears it. Here's what he said on the Krypton Fan podcast interview:

Robert Sanchez: Look, let me be very clear about something. This is not my first choice. I don't want people to think we're making [this up]. There's a couple of sites out there right now that are claiming that we're doing this just to build up traffic. That's not the way I work. We report it as we hear it.​

Sanchez has however stated on his blog that he doesn't want a third Superman in the JL role. He would prefer that it either be Routh or Welling.
