It happens to us all. We can only stay so young for so long. We can't stay on top of the world forever and sooner or later we're outclassed and surpassed. Even the mighty Batman is only a mortal in a costume. Sooner or later, he'd find himself no longer sitting as #1.

If by the end of the series, Batman had to become second to another human being as a crimefighter/martial artist/detective, be it a villain or a hero, who should it be? If there were another person, without superpowers, who flat out Batman could never (or no longer) beat one on one... WHO?

Not with prep time.

Then you could say your joke has backfired, because 60% has voted for it, myself included.

No one beats the Bat.

yeah well SHH also unanimously agrees that "300" is creative or original storytelling and that Batman can beat up Superman.

... and I voted Grayson for the whole "student becomes the master" story deal.

I also voted for Grayson. Just 'cause he's Grayson.

Yeah yeah I know the whole Robin vs. Robin stuff goes on. When I say "Grayson", just assume I mean "RobinS"

the only thing that will beat Batman is old age or himself pushing his body to the very limit.

If Batman is going down at all, it's definately going to be on Catwoman. Or maybe Talia. Although Catwoman more likely keeps better maintenance.

But seriously, a villain can never totally defeat Batman. Maybe little tactical victories, but that's about it. And if he is ever to die, I doubt it would be at a villain's hand. More likely losing his life while saving someone else.

Oh man... now there's a visual. Did you mean to write it that way? :cwink:

I'd say Tim Drake because I always saw him as being Batman's true successor.

yeah but Crisis on Infinite Earth's disagrees... and so do the comics about Wayne and Talia's love child... it's just too much. On this forum.. GRAYSON means PROTEGE

I still want to see a story where Drake and Grayson team up to take him down.

I think that makes Grayson look weak... but having Grayson flat out beat Batman makes Batman look weak. It's a tough situation.
