Didn't see a topic about this surprisingly. Anyway, in the first Batman, Obviously Alfred knows, as does Rachel and Lucious. I know in certain Batman comics, Gordon knows Wayne is Batman. Do you think he should find out in TDK?

Will it kill the mystique the more people that know who Batman is?

More interest would be if Gordon figured out Batman was Bruce Wayne, and demonstrated his keen detective skills, although it isn't terribly hard. Wayne disappears, reappears later, takes over Wayne Enterprises, and suddenly the Batman appears who seems to have vast resources and nice toys.

I speak for everyone when I say NO

seriously this thread could go for months and months and the answer of everynoe here will be no, thread might aswell be closed

I don't think anyone should know who Batman is in TDK or the possible third film. It's horrible enough that Rachel Dawes knows who it is.

You can't speak for everyone, hence the poll. Just because you think the answer is no doesn't mean the poll is not valid and people don't have their own opinions. In fact, there is already someone who thinks Batman's identity should be revealed so naaaaaaahhhhh!!!

The idea of Gordon knowing who Batman's real identity is works far better when it is implied very implicitly.

Have the identity actually be revealed? No. However, an alternative is that at the end of the third film, Batman should try to reveal his identity to Gordon, after some incident makes him believe he needs to trust those he works with more, but Gordon turns away and tells him not to. Much like No Man's Land, I believe.

It is implied that Lucius knows, not 100 percent certain. And no, Gordon should never know who Batman's true identity is. Bruce Wayne should be among his top five or ten suspects at some point, but he should never be 100% sure.

Alfred will put on the batsuit. Gordon will never knoww Bruce is Batman.:oldrazz:

Gordon should be smart enough to figure it out on his own.

It's far better when it's only implied that Gordon is a smart enough man to know who Batman really is, but never comes out and says it. Keeps the mystery that way.

I don't see how it would add to the story.

Maybe when they're both a bit older and Bruce has been working with Gordon for a long time and after Barbara Gordon becomes Batgirl/Oracle, which I doubt we'll see in this film series, but as of now it's way too early.

I think it is too early in Nolan's Bat-world for Gordon to KNOW who Batman is, but it is interesting to think about for the future. If Gordon did figure it out, I don't think he would tell Wayne that he knows - I think he would understand that if Bruce knew that his identity was known to Gordon, it would inhibit his operations as Batman (he would be reluctant to work with even the uncorrupted police, for example). What might be the most interesting aspect of a development like that would be just exactly what Gordon would do with that knowledge.:word:

No. I woudlnt mind some settle hints ala the comics that Gordon knows, but I dont want it revealed...although I woudlnt mind seeing a scene like in the comics where Batman is going to take off his mask and Gordon looks away and tells him not to.

Of course not. SolidSnakeMGS, do you read the comics?

[and yeah, Alfred obviously knows]
