Does anyone have the rest of the concept are for the X-Men costumes that he designed for the movie?

what is with alex ross and the dominating black? his X-Men designs, Spiderman, even the new Captain America are 75% black. and Spidey and Cap even have the same design- colored triangle with logo covering the torso/shoulders over an all-black suit.

i really liked his goblin design, but i really didn't like his spiderman design. it's not like the spidey design wouldn't translate well on screen because it did. but i hated teh movie goblin, and would have prefered this.

so did i too but i guess they wouldve had a harder time explaining why he would have had a costume like that when they can go with "military gliding suit"......course that doesnt explain the helmet.

about cyclops, i would prefer if the "X" was only limited to his chest...then that would be a SWEET cyclops design. i like storm, but it the white parts supposed to be white or her skin. if skin, i wouldn't mind halle berry wearing that.:cwink:

i dont want alex ross doing ANY of the JL costumes. i dont think he would understand how the colors would translate into screen just like how his drawings/art look really dull

Just a heads up, apparently Alex Ross didn't actually design the red&black Spider-Man concept suit. It was an artist named David Williams (known on these boards as WAMS). Didn't realize it until I came across this thread the other day:

http://forums.superherohype.com/showthread.php?t=260493&page=6

He speaks about this starting at post #141.

Haven't seen the X-Men suits you mentioned, will need to look those up.

interesting...Alex Ross always got credited, and even though Williams got the credit as a designer, in the VG, it's still called the Alex Ross suit. and i've never heard alex ross in all his interview ever crediting someone else. can some back this up?

You think someone could have done the Spider-man costume better? His X-men costumes looked even better than the ones that were actually used in the movies. I'd love to see what he can do for JLA.

well yeah, who ever did the movie one. i think that suit is much better than the ross design.

and to be fair, in terms of x-men, if they are gonna go with the all black look, i like the movie ones better also. IMO. now if he did something that was more authentic to the source, then i might pick his.

Actually thought Ross did the movie design by the way. Just a heads up.

As for the X-men costumes, the ones used in the movies were pretty plain in comparison. Ross's Wolverine was muuuuch better.

i'm confused. i thought you said the pics above were ross' design, and were not used in the movie?

now i must say, i'm kinad digging this wolverine costume. although i would probably not make the two colors contrast as much. but i like the mask.

Don't know if you are just joking with me or not by this statement.

My post wasn't anything against you, just sharing something interesting regarding that particular concept design I recently learned. If it sounded other wise I apologize.

Also,
I do really like that Wolverine design. I would have loved the mask being used at least a little in the films, but understand from the story why it wasn't. Would be nice if they tried to work it into the new Origins film, but it's doubtful.

Anyway back to JL costumes. I'm not sure how I feel about Ross designing them. Based on his work in the books of those characters I'd have to say no. But with anything I couldn't judge until I saw what he would come up with.

Nothing against you, man. I was just replying to M.O. Steel who didn't know I made that statement because I was under the impression that Ross did all the designs for the movie.

I was under the impression that Ross did all the designs for the Spider-man movie. I didn't know the used ones weren't his.

And the white part is supposed to be brown or orange apparently so I'd really be all for it. Too bad though. The ones they did use were still good.

Thanks, guess I'm just punchy today.

With the X-Men movies trying to be "realistic" I'm surprised they didn't have them all wear masks to protect their identities.

come to think of it, yeah you're right. they ought to.

well it didnt really seem like they wanted to hide their identities.

Good point, and very true. But looking at the movies it's not like they were actually going out and fighting crime. They would show up when things were going to hell and fight the bad guys. At that point I doubt too many people were studying their faces.

They were too busy hauling a$$ away from flying cars and floating bridges..:woot:
