How is that "DULL"?
I guess its just a matter of taste. i just dont find the colors appealing at all, and i wish he would draw the superheroes with more muscle (since they're superheroes). and his women :wow: are hideous, which to me is a no no when drawing comics. i also hate how the faces are realistic and then the costumes dont look realistic at all, he doesnt know how to shade realistically since he shades in one general area when clothes shade in several different areas.

From a design sense, those costumes are great. But they way Alex draws the fabric just makes it look cheesy as hell. They look more like comic book convention attendees rather than characters in a big budge superhero movie.

The Ross's X-men are perfect! That would be wicked cool on a movie.

My only thoughts:

. Lose the capes.

. Normal skin Angel, please. I Hate the blue-skin Angel!

I always preferred these designs over the ones in the movies. At least it payed an homage to the source material.

F'n leather. Why Singer? :down

He said in one of the documentaries he felt the leather suits were the safe option, but could you really he blame him for taking such an option? It was the first of the recent comic adaptions, he wanted the characters to be taken seriously, his cautious approach is understandable.

I find the colors stunning. And a superhero doesn't have to look like he's on steroids to look strong. Take boxers from the old days as an example: They were really strong, but they looked kind of fat, unlike body builders. I don't see how his costume don't look realistic? And yes, his women are kind of ugly.

Well, he's drawing it like it's supposed to be real fabric, and not armor or anything.

well i guess it just shows how dumb superheroes would look in real life. thats why they shouldnt go with the ross designs. and like i said i guess its just taste, u like the colors, i dont

Wow, I'm noticing a whole lot of you have bad taste for even considering Ross's designs. Even the fact that you guys like his X-Men designs better is beyond me.

It's all subjective. One can argue that you have bad taste for being one of the few that disagree.

Here's a sketch I did for a JLA Superman. I would stick with a classic look for him, not necessarily for anyone else though. I imagine a heavy cloth for the blue and a really light cloth for his cape. No spandex, we're talking woven materials.

I think that the trunks should actually be shorter and the cape longer. It'd be perfect at that point.

Looks like a mini skirt to me actually. The bottom part just needs to have more of a 'V' cut; Other than that I like it, though I would use more vibrant colors.

I love the cape, as said before, the trunks should be more in a V shape (but I like the boxer-briefs look), and you should use a little more vibrant colors. I don't think I'm too crazy about the heavy cloth idea. Superman wears tights. Period.
