The way you describe is a good way. He asks for his shot early and fails. Its been done before. Then they do something else to determine a new number one contender or contenders.

If Swagger does go to Wrestlemania I have a hard time seeing him win or at least holding it long if he wins.

Hell I'd like to see Jericho win the title at Wrestlemania then get cashed in on by Ziggler. It'd give Jericho a big Mania win he deserves but it also puts over Ziggler and builds up what could continue to be a great long term rivalry. Injury after Zigglers assault could also explain Jerichos departure.

Del Rio would be protected in loss in a four way WHC match. Jericho gets a big win and protected losing the title. Ziggler gets the rub of winning the title and being the first guy to cash in MITB at Wrestlemania. There are reasons to continue Ziggler vs Del Rio OR Ziggler vs Jericho down the road. All this within lots of entertaining twists and turns.

Not every fan will know they are leaving, so if they tie things in more it would make better story sense to pick up a feud later.

I want to know what Jim Ross REALLY thinks about all this. He's supported Swagger more strongly than anyone else in WWE.

With JR I think you need to read between the lines with him these days, he's rarely ever openly critical, but you can get his thoughts through what he doesn't say, such as his views on Rock vs Cena II; "Money has always been the bottom line in this business" Note there's no praise or enthusiasm.

Lets all be honest. The spot against Del Rio should have been Zigglers anyway. He deserved it way more than Swagga. Like Antman said any number of guys could have worked in the xenophopic american gimmick with Zeb Colter. Joe Hennig sure could have used something like that. Hell I think it could work better for him. He could say guys like Del Rio are taking his spot when his family has been in this business for generations and the spotlight is part of his legacy. he deserves it.

I like the Joe Hennig idea, if they want to keep the Colter character in play he'd be a good fit given his background.

Agree with all of what you say. putting Lesnar with Del Rio NOW would be a waste. Lesnar vs Henry should be something thats built to down the line instead of them blowing their wad on it any time soon.

Like you said a three way or four way match between the guys you listed is the best option. It adds star power and makes it more unpredictable. Whoever wins Ziggler could just cash in after.

The only thing I can thing is preventing them from doing a triple threat is the possibility that the WWE title match will be a triple threat, it's a tricky one but if I was to bet money I say Henry calls out Swagger on Raw and squashes him to take the #1 contenders spot.

A little snippet on Rock's further appearances and what not. I skipped the part where it mentioned Rock left to Panama after Raw Monday...

The Rock, following 'Mania and the Raw after, will leave for another long trip to Hungary and Croatia to begin filming for the movie "Hercules". Rock has described that movie as a passion project of his and he's been training to play the part of Hercules for over a year now, which is the reason he looks so jacked right now. F4WOnline.com reports that his next scheduled appearance is March 4th.

Brock Lesnar is scheduled for this Monday's Raw in Dallas, and it's also being reported that Rock and Brock alternating appearances is by design. WWE doesn't want to have the two main eventers appearing on the same shows as much as possible. This is likely due to the fact that current plans are calling for Rock vs Brock to headline next year's WrestleMania at the Superdome in New Orleans.

Agreed, TheFuture. That NY crowd could crap on Cena or Rock alone...OR both of them. Its hard to call. The obvious choice is Cena but hows a smart crowd going to feel about Rock after this title run when they know he's dropping it to return to movie land?

The biggest benefit out of this whole Swagger fiasco is that *fingers crosses* Swagger gets out of WHC match. I like Swagger and the new gimmick but they threw him into this WHC match for no reason. I hope, like someone mentioned, have it be Jericho vs Del Rio.. they can play off the whole respect aspect of being big stars in Mexico and such.. good face vs face match for title. Jericho wins at mania with Ziggler cash-in.

Normally, I would say AntMan is right and the scenario Future outlined would never happen. Then I think of Unforgiven 2006, where Cena went against Edge in Toronto. I was in the crowd, which was pro-Edge undoubtedly, but truth be told there was a mild Rocky 4 moment during the match, when a noticeable portion of the crowd switched from Edge to Cena by the end, due to the quality of the match.

After witnessing that, I could believe anything can happen.

I love having The Rock back but having Rock/Brock as the ME of WM30 is so shortsighted. Why not build a something this whole year with the next generation (Ziggler, Shield, hell even Ryback) so when Cena and Punk and Rock and Brock are gone we'll have solid players in the ME.
