Sequels If they used The Green Goblin in the sequels, he should look like this....

This is for you, Troy. Too lazy to finish :o

I didn't make that. lol

What did you do apart from make the hood cover his forehead and make his eyes... yellow? :funny:

What did you do apart from make the hood cover his forehead and make his eyes... yellow-er? :funny:

I added moar purple on his legs, arms, and abdomen, and added grain to his chest to look like....circuitry? Basically tried to make it look more like this...

Ah, sweet.

And yeah, something like what you posted is a lot like what I'd like to see. :D

Thing is, kids DO enjoy menacing looks and serious films. The Dark Knight is extremely popular among people in any age. So I hope Green Goblin will look truly menacing this time.

Agreed.

I think it's entirely possible they go the hulk-like route and have him be a more man like version of the Lizard, where Norman is still in control. Like he wants what spiderman has, spider powers (or in this case Lizard powers) but can't recreate the experiment that would make him a Lizard-Man, if you will.

There's lots of wiggle room there though so who knows what could be done. I think his powers will be different then just having enhanced abilities and being stuck in the green-skinned goblin looking form.

Unlike the Lizard he will be able to control when he transforms, so he can still do Norman stuff and use his company to outfit himself.

I don't want him to look like the Hulk-Goblin. I don't think that's the best route to go.

While I don't hate Ultimate Green Goblin, I have to agree. Norman Osborn turning into a huge, muscular creature isn't what the Green Goblin should be. Anybody remember the occasions that Peter and Norman took their masks off in the 616 comics? Those moments really are the kind that translate best for the climax of live-action film, and it highlights the very personal nature of the Spider-Man-Green Goblin dynamic, because of the relationship between the men behind the masks, Peter Parker and Norman Osborn. Turning Norman Osborn into a hulking creature makes this not the battle between Peter and his friend's father Norman, but a battle between Peter and a monster that occupies Norman's body.
Furthermore, I've heard more praise for the climax of Iron Man than I do for the climax of Hulk, at least when they are compared. Why? Because in Iron Man, both combatants expose their faces, so they are two people fighting, as opposed to two computer-generated monsters fighting each other as in Hulk.

Very true.

Indeed, I'd say that it constitutes the core of their dynamic, just as the core of the Batman/Joker dynamic is their symbolism of order vs chaos. Interestingly, I once heard it said of Batman and Joker that bats and clowns don't really have many immediate connections to each other, and for Spider-Man and Green Goblin, I'd say the same is true of spiders and goblins. The personal relationship between Peter and Norman provides the substance for the otherwise random battles of Spider-Man and Green Goblin.

Yeah, Ultimate Goblin=no for me.

Keep it simple, a guy in a costume can still be scary and intimidating (Joker). The personal dynamic between spidey and goblin can still exist then. Rather than having Peter fighting some huge green monster, or even just a mutated green man, have him fight Norman Osborn in a ghoulish and scary costume. I feel like something like Osborn wore in Return of the Goblin (Peter Parker, Spider-Man) would work out very well for the movies. I don't know though, that's just my opinion.

Agreed. Moments like this:

Can't happen with a metamorphosing Green Goblin.

Yup, moments like that is just what I was talking about.

But ultimately the human connection that I personally think Raimi did a great job of capturing would be lost. I really enjoy the Father vs. Son dynamic of both Spider-Man (movie) and the comics.

Another thing is... if Marc chooses to do the death of Gwen Stacy (which he will! :D)... I'd rather see that happen at the hands of, well, a Green Goblin that looks more like the 616 one, rather than some hulking green monster. :\

Agree,

Monster kills girlfriend, oh no, but hey, he can't control himself/he's insane and is driven by animal instincts.

Man kills girlfriend, intricate story of hatred, pain, and wanting revenge. A man can do much more intricate emotional damage to the hero than a raging monster who seems like he's taken to much cocaine.

I am not sure, I found it on a site called Spidey Kicks Butt!, in the article Legacy of the Green Goblin in the Green with Evil series about Norman Osborn on the table of contents.

I completely agree. Harry Osborn is the lynchpin to their relationship, because without Harry's friendship with Peter, then Norman Osborn is just some rich guy to Peter Parker, and Norman Osborn wouldn't know who Peter Parker is.

Very true. By the way, that's one of my fall time favorite JRJR issues. Not the story entirely, but the art.

I think it's Peter Parker Spider-Man # 75, right?

Agreed. A rivalry between a spider and a goblin is meaningless. It is the men underneath the costumes who give the rivalry meaning.

It's not from New Ways to Die, just scanned through my copies of the series, plus Pete took off his mask which he wouldn't do considering that Norman doesn't know his identity anymore.

On the subject of Harry, I wish they would put him in this movie, but I'm not sure if Pete is going to College yet, any word on that? Or is just in high school the whole time? Still, I feel like if they had Harry in the first one they could start developing some important character details. You wouldn't even have to include Norman yet.
