IGN's Top Ten Reboots of All-Time

The first 2 deserved the spot, X-Men: First Class was a good relaunch but not a true reboot. Not sure about The Amazing Spider-Man, until now it didn't have a big impact, maybe that will change with time.

Yeah, beating a dead horse, but why Superman Returns is on the list as a reboot, I have no idea...it's pitched as a direct sequel to Superman II. Man of Steel is a reboot.

I would have put Goldeneye on the list. I think of every James Bond actor change (except for Lazenby) as a reboot because the feel of the movies changes distinctly with each actor and there isn't much continuity between each "series" of Bond films.

The comments section underneath will lift your hearts, especially if they are heavy.

You know what this list is missing? The Ninja Turtles reboot
maybe not mythology. but Superman having a son was a good idea. maybe it didnt work in the whole movie but the idea was very good.
It wasn't explored, we just had hints of him maybe being his son, and the piano push was there for a second then ignored
It could have been an interesting easter egg leading to interesting sequels and then bringing up Connor Kent without cloning

I don't know, Batman's movie had a city with people, and they reacted
Didn't check the rest of the points

Batman Begins?
Casino Royale?
Star Trek?

Yeah... I doubt it.
Those three are what most people seem to agree with, the rest of the list is a mixed bag

The first 4 movies on their list are dumb. Sum of all Fears sucked. Superman Returns sucked. TIH and ASM were just ok/bland. I also like how they say this about ASM and I quote "but hopefully the sequel will offer them [Andrew and Emma] a fresher and more deftly executed story than this reboot did". Then it wasn't a good reboot wtf!?

They didn't say all the reboots were supposed to be classic cinema. It's simply the top ten reboots but there hasn't been that many great reboots so perhaps they should've made it a top 5 or 6.

and I obviously disagree with ASM not being a good or great movie.

TIH is a huge step up from the 2003 film in terms of being fun and having a proper looking Hulk
And I still find it the No.1 Marvel movie

TIH wasn't that great. A step up from Hulk yes most definitely. It was ok/average. It is easily not Marvel's best movie and as a reboot it wasn't really successful in terms of box office and Ed Norton being a dong and getting recast.

The Robert Downey Sherlock Holmes cannot be considered a reboot because it's a public domain character with six or seven concurrent "reboots" going on in various other media, as well (the BBC Sherlock, CBS' Elementary, etc.), probably including movies (though possibly low budget). One wouldn't consider a new "Dracula movie" or "Frankenstein movie", even if beginning a new series of movies set within the same universe with the same actors, a reboot, thus one cannot consider the new Downey Sherlock Holmes a reboot. It's unrebootable. What you're seeing there is just another reimagining.
