hey sinewave, how'd this turn out?

pretty good. we took turns watching him with my wife's brother and his family until the grandparents got back from a cruise they had already scheduled to alaska. he's a very hyperactive kid, but we kept hims busy with trips to the zoo and to the park and things like that. he spends most of his time with the grandparents now, as he used to before this incident. we still watch him once in a while to give them a break, though. he's back to his old self. they haven't had the custody hearing yet, but my sister-in-law was recently granted visitation rights with him and a social worker so they could observe her mothering skills. my wife is pretty certain that once the social worker observes the mother and child together for a little while she'll probably recommend that she not have permanent custody of him. she's just too selfish and single-minded to have to take care of anyone but herself. we'll see....

I was looking to do a Doomed Hero joke but.... :csad:

My little 3 year old nephew was beaten by his mom's boyfriend and taken away from her for three months. My wife and I are going to be taking turns caring for him with the rest of my wife's family for the next couple of weeks until the grandparents get back from a cruise. I feell really bad for the little guy. I saw him last night and his face is covered in multi-colored bruises and he's got more on his arms and back. He's doing okay, though. He's in pretty good spirits and nothing's broken, so he'll be fine physically, but may have some emotional scarring from it. My wife's sister is a loser. She's got a learning disorder as a result of infant alcohol syndrome, or whatever it's called, and she's basically just a lazy, uneducated welfare mom. The kids is really sweet and fun to be around, but he drew the short straw as far as moms go. I'm thinking that eventually the mom is going to end up in jail, along with the boyfriend, and the grandparents will end up gaining custody of him. I'm really not a violent person, but if I ever see that guy again I'll have a hard time restraining myself from kicking his ass.

Wow, terrible.

It's great that you're stepping up and taking care of him. Great job, man! Just do us all a favor and avoid the subject of politics :woot:.

cool, sinewave. I was wondering how it turend out. hopng he wasn't going to be one of those poor kids who falls through the cracks.

welp, keep an eye on him and make sure he understands that most of the views expressed on Pitchfork are a load of hollow scenestery crap. then he will grow up to be a fine young man.

I've already taught him to say "Bush sucks!" He's well on his way to being a raging liberal.

you are wise man indeed, sir. :yay:

Oh, I forgot to mention that his mom is still with the guy who beat him, so she obviously hasn't learned a damn thing. I really doubt she's going to get custody of him, though. I really hope I run into that a-hole again so I can tap dance on his face.

That's an incredibly noble thing to do sinewave. Much respect to you!

And some people will never EVER learn.

The kid sounds much better off with out his mom anyway
