ha, you don't have to worry about any of that...
look at all the stories they managed to fit into the last stand...
the whole pheonix saga
scott's death/going missing (i have faith)
The whole cure
the enlisting on pretty much a brand new brotherhood
Warren worthington's relationship with his father and the cure
Rogue's relationship with bobby and her taking the cure
Pyro's and Iceman's tension build up.
Wolverine's love for jean
Xavier's tactile death and ressurection.
Magneto getting his powers back
Henry McCoy's build up.
Mystique's betrayal
Storm and wolverine's abilities to become school and mission leaders
basically the last stand covered a lot more ground than spidey has too and it did it in much less time. Now a lot of people will go on and say that the last stand didn't do this well BUT this is because of the quality of the scenes they had rather than the Quantity of the scenes they had. I could give a re-treatment for every scene in that film shown and provide a much more coherent story, heck i'd even cut a few out, which would leave me with only a mildly longer film and still be able to cover all the points the film wanted to (as well as tie things in to future movies and tie up some loose plot ends).
I think a lot of people are used to having unnecessary scenes in alot of these comic book movies. Maybe it's all of these six/twelve part story arcs marvel has been putting out, what happened to a great story being told in a single issue or even 2. Animation shows complex stories can be told in limited times, heck Spiderman 2 could have been done in 40 mins and touched all the same points. That's a whole nother 190 minutes of story telling available.
when you think of it like this, i don't see how bringing all these aspects can seem like a cramming exercise. It just means a potentially higher quallity film with no laps in entertainment.
but again, whenever has a comic book film used the most of its potential.
