In defense of "Globally Integrated" Joes:

Both are hacks. But GI Joe was sure more entertaining than TF2, though.

Because the "G.I." in G.I. JOE stands for "Government Issued", not "Global Integrated". So if the studio wanted an international team of soldiers, they shouldn'yt gave made a movie called "G.I. JOE", instead they should have remade MEGAFORCE.

It still does stand for "government issued" in the context of the actual use of the phrase "GI Joe".

That is, while the letters stand for something by themselves, they still spell out "GI JOE", which still means "government issued joe". It's not a random set of letters at all. It's letters the world wanted to spell out "GI JOE", and "GI JOE" has a specific meaning:

"General Infantry" or the more popular "Government Issue".

It's like "S.P.E.C.T.R.E." from the Bond stories.

SPecial Executive for Counter-intelligence, Terrorism, Revenge and Extortion

It still spells out "spectre", and still has meaning.

Now, while "GI Joe" was a term coined for American soldiers, there's nothing to suggest it cannot also be applied globally.

True, but in the real world (and yes, I know G.I. JOE isn't set in the real world), the "G.I." is still a term coined for American soldiers. Again, if they wanted to do a movie featuring an international team of heroes, they should have called this movie ACTION FORCE.

Making a movie called G.I. JOE about an international team of heroes would be like making a movie called RAP MUSIC about a Heavy Metal band.

Actually, they had considered titling it Action Force but people wanted it to be called G.I. Joe instead.

Well if they were american, why wouldnt the american army use them and their super weapons for their endeavors? Being international allows them to fight global threats (like Cobra) without being part of american politics. The world already hates america's wars, getting the Joes mixed up with them wouldnt go well with the rest of the world.

Also, americans think that they are the most democratic country in the world. In fact they boast so much about their democracy that you'd think that nobody else has it. And its rather ironic that for all that democracy and the american dream that america has no respect for human rights be it inside or outside their country.
Europe is democratic as well, but they dont need to boast about it. Europeans, Australians, Canadians, and others would also fight tyranny. GiJoes or Superman stand for morals and ideas that americans like to claim for themselves when most of the civilised world also has them. Therefore, i can understand that they would wanna keep the Joes american (since they originally belonged to their army), but since Superman is an alien and is not listed in any army, i cant see why he cant be fighting for freedom and democracy in general.

Share some comicbooks with the world america! GiJoes being worldwide is a good thing. Not only the rest of the world embraces your franchises, but this particular one explores how good it would be if everybody worked together.
