I was watching King of the Hill last night. That's right...King of the Hill. :o:csad: So, anyway, the episode revolved around Bobby being tortured by high school kids. It isn't the first time I've seen this in entertainment. This was also one of the plot points in Dazed and Confused.

I live in a big city, stuff like this doesn't happen here.

So, I was wondering if these stuff do actually happen in small towns and if any of you have experienced it. If so, share your tales!

Not where I grew up.

Maybe not to the severity of "King of the Hill" or "Dazed and Confused," but I am sure it does happen.

Upon entering ninth grade, there was hazing for the raising freshman 'ball players, etc. However, that was public school - where three different Jr. Highs were entering into one HS.

Now, when I was in private school, and the Jr. Highers were just a walk away - sure - we razed them, ridiculed them, etc. But never to the extent of going out of our way, the last day of school, chasing them all hours of the night.

For us, it was acceptance. Once said persons entered into ninth grade, we treated the individual with a little more, than a seventh grader. There were also exceptions. Meaning, there might have been a really cool eight grader - and no one bothered he or she, etc.

Major exception: For example, say it's tenth grade year and low-and-behold Susie - the eighth grader - is frickin' hot. We left her alone. No need to burn a bridge.

God I feel old.

Define torture.

We didn't do waterboarding or any enhanced interogation at my school but some kids could be pretty brutal.

You just referred to someone who was in the 8th grade as hot.

JStorm is Pedobear! :wow:

Matt Damon!!

Does no one get the analogy?!

Clearly. If one was in the 11th grade, and a 9th grader was flippin' hot, said person would not ask her out on a date?

11th grade year, I dated Amy. Amy was fifteen and I was seventeen. We were 18 months apart. Sheesh, people.

which reminds me:
does anybody think its wrong for 19 year old to have sex with a 17 year old?

Depends on the state. In GA, one just beat the curve. For example, if she was 16 - you'd be up poop creek.

Hype member Zen had the age of consent laws in each state memorized.

Dear Lord!

I, only, know GA - well - because I live here. Not that it matters, anymore. At the age of 28, I'm afraid to talk to a 21-year-old.

:scary:

At the first high school I attended, we had what we called "Freshman Friday," where all the upper-classmen dumped freshmen into garbage cans or dumpsters. I knew one guy who single-handed took one of my freshman friends AND another upper-classman hanging out with him, and tossed both their asses into the dumpster in our smoking area.

That's the closest thing we ever had to that...

You small town folks have too much free time. :csad:

You military base folks have too much free time. :csad:

Fixed.

And I forgot to mention, it was only the first friday of each year, so it's not like this was a weekly happening. I was only there my freshman year until November, then transferred out. Thankfully, I never got tossed in a trash can or dumpster.

Still...you'd think these seniors would have better things to do, like sex with their girlfriends.

I live in a pretty small town and the only thing I can think of is mainly the guys of the school say "It is freshmen friday" then it spreads throughout the school to make them scared ,but really they just get like 3 people nothing horrible just to give em a scare. It is not so much the upperclassmen it's mostly the sports jocks that have the "we are better than you" attitude.

Does it shock you that people don't spend EVERY second of their lives having sex? Does it shock you that upper-classmen pull pranks (albeit it pretty messed up ones) on lower-classmen? It was a tradition at the school. You say that like you've never heard of a tradition before.

I grew up in a small town, we didn't have a middle school we just had a K-8 school and a High School. We used the same school buses and everything so yeah the High Schoolers picked on the younger kids all the time. I learned more on the Bus than I did in school actually, I think I got my sex education in like 2nd grade.

That kind of "tradition" is the kind that spawns psycho killers that come back later for revenge on the tormentors.

Its not just on the younger kids ,sometimes it is just on the school. Like TPing the school or other things.
