In The Multiverse Of Madness Spoiler Discussion Thread

I understand killing off Wanda because of what she has done here and in WandaVision etc, but I’m really supposed to believe that after all she’s been through, a pile of rocks in a destroyed temple is supposed to do her in?

Would’ve been better if America knocked her into that Drag Me To Hell looking dimension.
She is not dead it is much like Hela didn't see the actual death they can bring her back. She took out all the Dark Holds but how does taking out the 616 temple eliminate every dark hold. I think they can either get another universe Wanda like Gamora being back. We need more of Xavier trying to fix Wanda.

How are they going to redeem her when she returns?
Having Xavier work with her though that was kind of done in the original movies with having Xavier rehabilitate Wolverine which is a common story.
Avengers and the team fixed Wanda up and made her better so it can happen again I suppose.

Black Bolt sorta seems like a joke in this. I mean, does Feige dislike the Inhumans? Because to me they are currently an awkward vestigial growth on the backside of the MCU.
I don't think most of the common viewers that are not into the comics care about Inhumans. They can easily be put in a movie as side characters and killed off. I know who they are but don't care too much about Black Bolt.

Now would I rather have had a Inhumans movie over Eternals yes but both of the entities are ehh to me.

What was weird to me is how it was implied Strange has been fighting Mordo off screen. That was odd.

I also wonder if this Captain Carter is meant to be the same variant we met in What If..?
If that's the case, well that's just depressing lol

I don't mind about Krasinski, but I hope he's not the MCU's Reed. Not that I don't like him, but seeing a first time portrayal of a character like this feels so stupid.

I wonder if T'Challa would have been a member of the Illuminati

I saw the film as essentially about letting go of that fear of losing loved ones. Strange with Christine, America Chavez with her Mothers and Wanda with her children. Is the moral journey laid out the best? No. But it's there thematically and relies on the characters learning to over come these fears in order to use this and beat Wanda. She didn't defeat herself. They learned to let go of that fear, move on and then showed her how.

I agree with the Westbrook line. Didin't work.

Mate, they didn't beat Wanda.

They didn't show her how to let go of her fear, they showed her that she had become such a monster that even her own children were terrified of her - of course, that was understandable as she just nuked their real mother, but anyway.

She realised what a monster she was - despite not figuring that out while committing mass murder - and destroyed herself, literally by pulling the mountain down on top of herself.

I think we saw that final scene very differently.

Couple things:

- Kransinki didn't feel like a good reed richards and for once the fan casting may have not worked. Felt very odd as an introduction for his mcu debut.
- I feel like we just washed, rinsed and repeated wandas arc 2 years in a row as well. Also where was vision?
- capt carter, marvel and professor x were jobbed out horribly to make wanda look strong.

some of the fanfare in this movie just felt forced but I still loved the movie overall as a continued path for Dr Strange.

Krasinski’s probably our Reed now, right? It’s an odd introduction to kill him immediately but it’s an introduction none-the-less. I admit he’s never really been my pick but I think he gave a pretty great screen test in this movie. None of those actors were on set together, right? Krasinksi didn’t have much to say/do, but it felt like Reed Richards to me. Still not sold on Emily Blunt as Sue but she’s a great actress so I’m sure she’d knock it out of the park too.

Patrick Stewart as Xavier, on the other hand, I think is just a loving cameo/homage. Loved the idea of including the hover chair but I think they needed to take another crack at the design/build tbh lol. Still great to see.

I wonder if we can get a Captain Carter Disney+ series now that we’ve seen her in live action? I really enjoyed her What-If episode, and would always be up for more Hayley Atwell appearances in the MCU.

And I suspect Black Bolt will reappear one day in a Miss Marvel project and fellow (recast) Inhumans.
the Inhumans are probably best to appear in the Fantastic Four.

and we probably got the new Reed. They could have easily hired one of the two actors from FoXFf films but they didn't.

I'm thinking they should have used Namor instead of Capt. Marvel as Namor is in Wakanda Forever. a small role that would eventually lead to a bigger role in November.

Cumberbatch and Theron in the 3rd film should be fun. Doctor Strange: in the Dark Dimension. I know Strange fans have been sorta hyping Clea up for 6 or 7 years now so I'm glad we're finally getting her

Hard to really gouge out his performance when he barely had any screentime. I don't think it would be truly indicative of whether or not he'd definitely make a good or bad Reed Richards.

Throughout the movie I kept thinking about Civil War and how Steve would be kicking himself if he saw what Wanda became lol
I thought the same thing. Her transition from Age of Ultron has been the most interesting. She went from training to be a superhero to witch who had no problem killing. If it wasn’t Olsen’s acting selling it, I wouldn’t believe it.

Wanda was a savage in this!
"Do they have a mother?"
"Yes"
"Then they'll have someone to raise them""

If you mean cruel, mass murdering, selfish, narcissistic ******* = savage.

Then I totally agree.

The more I think about the film the worse it gets. But the performances of Cumberbatch and Olson were solid. I kind of feel like she stole the show.

It was a terrible way to introduce the character. Awful. Simply awful.

I enjoyed it. I’d give it a 7/10. Better than Eternals and Black Widow. Some parts were a little slow, and sad Stephen didn’t really work for me.

America was fine. They could have done more with her. Her character was just there as a mcguffin and her finally controlling her powers didn’t really work for me. Strange gave her a pep talk and that’s all it took.

Olsen was the scene stealer as expected. The horror elements whenever she was on the hunt were great. Loved all the Evil Dead inspired shots.

The Illuminati scene was fine. Nice fan service but the characters were nerfed big time. It raises interesting questions. There are clearly mutants in that world, including Wanda. Did anyone besides Illuminati fight him? No Tony Stark or Black Panther?

The first post credit scene was dumb. Between this and Starfox in Endgame, the tie for my least favorite. Why would Strange go off to some dimension with a person he literally just met?

I like Marvel took some risks in tone for this one but it won’t be for everyone.

This is how I saw it as well.

That was the genuine surprise of the film for me. Should be exciting to see, along with the return of Dormammu and Baron Mordo in a true villainous role.

honestly thats kinda depressing because Steve believes in the good of people and he stuck his neck out for her.

Once a fascist, pro-Nazi, mass-murder supporting organization sympathizer, always a fascist, pro-Nazi, mass-murder supporting organization sympathizer.

I'd love to see this. However, Marvel and Kevin Feige like to bait and switch on things like this. Case in point, this movie.

Can someone explain the Scarlet Witch to me? I’m still confused about what she/it actually is. Like, is the SW a force of magic and Wanda is essentially its avatar/host, or is she the one and only SW and the prophesies and the temple were all built in preparation for her? They’ve been a bit vague on this or maybe I missed something.

the way Marvel is framing her in the MCU makes her seem like the supernatural Phoenix force.

I didn’t think so because the Illuminati all seemed to be from that same universe and were all trying to prevent Incursions. Nothing made me believe they’d allow an exception for her with how arrogant they all seemed. Not to mention she didn’t have her sword.

Just how I see it. I’m totally sure there’ll be another Krasinzski Reed like there’ll be another Peggy Captain Carter and Rambeau.

Another thing I liked is how they acknowledged being a superhero is like being a celebrity. They’re on lunchboxes. People ask to take pictures. I’m surprised there isn’t always a crowd on Bleeker St waiting for him to come out.
