In The Multiverse Of Madness Spoiler Discussion Thread

The show was crap but I think Anson Mount’s Blackbolt being in the MCU would be fine.

I really wish Raimi and Marvel would have let that professor x and wanda scene breathe just a bit longer when they went telepathic. Another minute or two with them talking and professor trying to reach her would have had a bigger impact on his death. He could have referenced Jean and so on to help her. Aot of this movie felt rushed when it didnt need to be
Exactly this. I'm really disappointed they didn't handle the scene like that.

Would have been pretty cool to see, not gonna lie.

I do think this movie could have used maybe 5 more minutes as silly as that sounds. Little moments to remind audiences that Wanda was a hero—I don’t mind her villainous turn (I actually quite like it) but her story could have used a scene or a few more lines of dialogue to highlight her descent or her corrupt rationale. And another minute or so to the Illuminati.

I really loved the DOFP line drop by Xavier, or the “I can do this all day” by Carter.

Between 616 Strange and his multiverse doppelgängers, I actually thought Doctor Strange was well-represented despite some of the other criticisms I’m reading on this thread. I also think America, Christine, and Wong’s characters were nicely integrated into the story. Maybe more Mordo, but I’m fine with leaving that storyline hanging until a future story.

from the original Illuminati, the only members missing are Tony and Namor. They wouldn't recast Tony for such a short role, and they wouldn't bring back RDJ for a smaller role especially after his huge death in Endgame. While Namor is rumored to appear in Wakanda Forever and if he was in this movie, it would have been a sort of promotion for the upcoming Wakanda Forever (just like Reed for the upcoming Ff reboot). I don't know why Marvel didn't think that way.

Maria Rambeau was such a random choice. Though I'm giving Captain Carter a pass, because her appearance was related to What if which heavily featured the Multiverse and Evil Strange, so her as a member kinda made sense to me.
Since the Illuminati seemed destined to die they may not have wanted to do both Namor and Reed. Those two are going to appear in future movies Namor could get his own or a show so don't make two look weak.

Xavier will be around but not Patrick Stewart so they were fine doing that to him.
Black Bolt was from a previous show and they know Inhumans won't be a big franchise.
I rather have seen Nova instead of Rambeau CM, but Rambeau put up the best fight and didn't get a clear death.
Captain Carter I did read was a big part of What If so yeah likely a shout out to that show.

I admit, Strange probably didnt have the standout moments in the movie but make no mistake I felt that this was his film. I really loved how Raimi put his relationship with Christine at the forefront and, idk, call me corny, call me sentimental, but at the end when he told Christine "I love you...in every universe." I FELT that. And thats all raimi man, hes a romantic, he brought that same sincere love story in the Spiderman movies and romance is something sorely lacking in the MCU as a whole.
Oh man, I'm glad that I wasn't the only one who felt this way. That's an example of the pure sincerity Raimi likes to put in his films, and it was something that made the Spider-Man films so special. People act like that stuff is corny, but it was so blunt and honest, that it really made me go "wow". It also made me go "I wish Raimi had directed the first film". Raimi knows how to make memorable action and to tell a beautiful heartfelt story.

Can’t see that image. What was it of?
It was this..

I agree (this version of) Wanda will definitely be back. However, I think in this case she might actually be dead. Remember that in a comic book universe, heaven and hell (of various stripes) are physical places people can actually have adventures in before eventually finding their way back to the normal world. I think this movie was clearly setting up a longer conflict between Wanda and the demon Chthon. That could just be him coming for revenge eventually, but if it were me, I'd say Wanda's next story is being trapped in some version of hell constantly confronted with everything she's done while Chthon tries to either take her out for destroying his throne/book or tries to force her to give up and become the monster he wants her to be.

Maybe that's too dark for the MCU, but then some people would've said the same about this movie.

Well the Illuminati didn't need to die. But I guess Wanda defeating Namor would have made him look like a weak threat for Wakanda Forever, but then so as Reed for the F4 reboot (if they bring back the same actor from this film).

They did need to die. It's meant to show how Wanda keeps going further and further gone.

The Eternals one was my least favorite credit scene that matters to sequels or future MCU. Those characters should have been in during Infinity Wars since they are connected to Thanos, don't care after. Similar to Warlock now but at least he will be better if he does appear in GOTG 3 and beyond, Magus can still be done for him.

I am guessing some time passed from when Strange dropped on the street and the eye appeared. The third eye and book may drive his interest to go.

The only thing I could think about during that Eternals post credits scene was how bad the CGI was on the troll guy. It was honestly distracting.

I am about as big of an Eternals defender as there is on these parts. That said...yeah Pip looked pathetically awful

It’s a shame too because I love Patton Oswalt but that scene was soooo bad.

Agreed. I liked Eternals fine. The post-credits scene not so much.

Just got back from seeing and fresh in my mind I kind of hated this. I'm not big into horror so those elements in the film I didn't care for and what they did to Xavier and Reed variants or not was atrocious came for a dr strange sequel got a America chavez origin story and wandavusion sequel
and I thought wandavision was a mess oh well. Back to back bad mcu entries [eternals] never thought ill see that day. Going forward ill spoil myself with end credit scenes sitting through that to get what we got

Lolol im unreasonably mad wtf

Not to self get your mind right before u post.

I can't turn the sound up right now. What does she say?

Couldn't agree more. They served their purpose perfectly. Wanda in her full-on Scarlet Witch mode wiped out the 838 answer to The Avengers. What does that say about what she could do against the 616 Avengers?

I loved the Illuminati in this movie. They helped showcase just how powerful Wanda has become now that she's a villain. The best heroes from the 838 universe beat Thanos but died fighting Wanda. Love that.

I guess Elizabeth Olsen just made it official: Wanda isn't going anywhere.

Well we see a puff of red when the temple crumbles. I think she escaped, maybe she stole enough power from America to travel somewhere. Maybe the hell like dimension was Mephisto's Realm and he took an interest by getting a brief glimpse of her.

Just got back from 2nd showing

the replay value for me was not that high for me, it really just felt like a movie nothing truly seemed resolved.
Christine story is closed but not really a big deal as in comics she had no connection to Strange. It was made up relationship for movies to give general audience something to connect to I guess. I liked Christine but did not need her as some driving force.

America Chavez was nice but still felt like a plot device and to make Strange appear softer. Everyone knows Dr.Strange is not that softhearted character but he can't be an ass in his solo movies.

They really should have involved Vision beside a few remarks Wanda made. Again the kids were for a general audience and Mother's day because she did Westview because Vision she wanted him back. Her anger was calmed by Vision he made her better as a person not kids she conjured up for what 4 episodes of the show? The kids could be a part of her but the actual family of having Vision there should have been the main motivation for her. Maybe Bettany was busy.

Still feel like Illuminati dying is fine a lot of it was fan service. Reed came off weak but was never the best fighter always considered the smartest man. That is why he has a team Torch and Thing are the muscle. The rest of that universe Illuminati was ehh to me, Stewart is still great but no way he will be in the reboot at his age.

Multiverse is still an issue with the incursion based on the credit scene. They destroyed the "Dark Hold" but it is more than a book and temple. The third eye appeared on Strange so it still exist.
Movie felt like Dr.Strange 1.5 a side adventure not a movie that moved the MCU or any story much. Now that he is with Clea it should progress and hopefully Mordo returns.

This is the worst Marvel movie I have ever seen.

it definitely felt like Raimi and Marvel studios competing visions of the film kept clashing with no real path. We know Raimi is one of the godfathers of modern day superhero cinema but something didn't quite click right in this movie and it was rather messy for where Marvel is at right now. I loved it but I have no issue in admitting this movie had problems
