In The Multiverse Of Madness Spoiler Discussion Thread

Its hard to say this is the worst Marvel movie with eternals, ironman 2, thor 2 and black widow running around lol. In seriousness I can easily see why some would not like this movie at all. My wife couldn't stand it outside of wanda and the scenes with her kids

Let's take the heat down here a notch guys.

I wouldn't say the worst Marvel movie with previous Fantastic 4, Elektra, Bana Hulk, old Captain America 80s, Thor old movies, etc.

It is too hard to say worst MCU movie since they have around 20 movies now, but it is in the tier of Captain Marvel, Iron Man 2, Age of Ultron, Spider-Man Homecoming, Black Widow, where I don't truly care that much they are just meh

They don't fall into the hell of
Thor 2, Eternals, IM3

it definitely felt like Raimi and Marvel studios competing visions of the film kept clashing with no real path. We know Raimi is one of the godfathers of modern day superhero cinema but something didn't quite click right in this movie and it was rather messy for where Marvel is at right now. I loved it but I have no issue in admitting this movie had problems
I thought they wanted the same vision that is why Derrickson left because he wanted something different.

I think Eternals is underrated. I really liked it. It's not Top 10 but its good IMO.

It is good for me if I erase it as an MCU movie and just view as an original super hero movie. But I can't so I just didn't care for it and I went in with no expectations. Would have preferred they were slowly introduced or just been side characters. Didn't think they deserved a movie.

So refresh my memory, why can't Wanda just create new kids. Since they were not real anyway?

I think the point is she wants real kids. The Wanda she dream walked in had real actual children.

i heard he wanted a completely horror type approach with little humor. Marvel aint gonna let these directors stray too far off the sidewalk.

Which is weird because...Vision is a machine/can't have actual kids, so how would the children look the same if not made up?

I don't like horror but it may not have been so bad because the humor in this fell flat a lot of the time. In both showings for me it had minimal laughs, people were into the movie since some reacted to the Illuminati and cheered/clapped at end.

I must have missed that. Did they mention these kids were real?
Also I think maybe the reason there were no other Chavez in other dimensions is because she was probably killed. Every other universe made the choice to kill her.

Oddly enough, I do not watch Horror movies, but I loved Army of Darkness by Sam Raimi. Evil Dead 2 was a bit much for me. Evil Dead one.. nah mate, definitely not for me. Those are the only horror movies I've ever watched, and most likely will ever watch.

The horror aspects is not even what I didn't like. I just found the story and characters pretty uninteresting. I never check my phone to see the time, well at least with most comic book movies, but I looked a few times during this. I reslly enjoyed the first Doctor Strange, but this, just didn't do it for me. But I can see why people will love it and praise it too.

I don't think I will revisit this film any time soon, if ever honestly. There's so many CBM's out there that I enjoy immsensly more.

That said, props to Marvel for doing something different. This & Moon Knight were quite outside the box, unfortunately they didn't do anything for me.

Yeah my showing was quiet and only popped for the illuminati and that was it.

People keep expecting a scene like portals in Endgame in every movie now. That was a culmination of 10 years. They are spoiled.

I agree with you but in this particular case we as fans were just coming off seeing and Andrew and tobey back as spiderman which no one ever thought would happen along with charlie Cox as daredevil. Now flash forward a few months and were told this is the multiverse of madness and patrick stewart shows up in a trailer with mystery figures in the dark. Marvel kind of did it to themselves setting expectations to equal to moments of the portals scene.

The way I see when a mentally ill Wanda first made the boys she saw that as "real". With the Darkhold fueled turn to Scarlet Witch and hearing the dreams of "real children" to make more from scratch would be fake constructs. Taking a close enough variant of real children she hears calling out to her thus is preferable to building a new set of fake children and putting them into the same face and voice of the children she lost

That's because the movie had considerably less humor than your average MCU entry. There were instances while I was watching that I caught myself thinking about the unusual amount of time that has passed since the last joke.
And that is a good thing IMHO. If there is one valid criticism about the Marvel formula is that many times they arbitrarily insert stupid jokes that ruin the mood of the moment instead of letting the humor grow organically.

Sorry to ask this again, but can anyone confirm on whether the Darkhold was enhancing Wanda's powers in this film? That was like the one thing I was unclear about.
