'Incredible Hulk' unlikely to get sequel !

I think after the DVD results, we'll know about a sequel and a Norton returning... just wait and see..

See guys I love hulk too but i am tired of him having hard time at boxoffice. The character simply doesn't appeal to general audiences.

I for one will like marvel to stop making stand alone films of his and just give him big roles in other superhero flicks like Avengers or when they get back x-men and F4 rights.

It certainly helped Hellboy that it wasn't a terribly expensive movie to make and that DVD sales meant a lot as far as return on investment. And, even with that, Hellboy 2 still has one of the smallest budgets of the Summer films.

Clearly, noone is in a hurry to greenlight a Hulk sequel, at least before all revenue streams are accounted for. Especially a Hulk sequel with a more expensive budget. If they could figure out to make a Hulk movie that's significantly cheaper I think the odds of a sequel would improve tremendously.

HA silly posters, they made FF2 why wouldn't they make TIH2 which had better reviews from critics unlike FF, and yet they made FF2. Come on now.

yes, I think we need more team franchises.

Alone character movies are good, but team movies can be amazing, team work, great action, good stories, interaction....

I hope they do The Avengers 2 and 3 too, why not?

and of course, X-men 4, and FF3. :yay: Oh, and Justice League.

how about a Hulk VS Spider-Man movie! and such.

I know, everything with a grain of salt... but:

Seems to be a hard decision.

This movie will get a sequel, it's uber close to surpassing the Hulk's box office, both domestically & worldwide. Besides, they have a winning formula, why reboot again in another few years? The majority of people are saying this movie is even better than Iron Man, so Marvel should know they did something right.

I want a Hulk sequel, but I would gladly trade that for a fight with the Thing in a Marvel Studios-created Fantastic Four :ff: movie.

That's not even close to true.

majority? the majority thinks Iron Man is the better movie.
i, on the other hand, am of the minority who actually do believe The Incredible Hulk is better than Iron Man.
to me, TIH is a visual masterpiece. the actors and the plot was great too. and yes, i would love to see more sequels. but not too soon.
what i'm banking on is that Marvel do the best they can at making the Hulk as captivating as possible in the upcoming Avengers movie. he could win new fans over, thus giving even greater reason to give Hulk his own new sequel, afterwards.
and i think Marvel has that strategy in mind anyway. see how the audience reacts to the Hulk in the Avengers movie, then base their judgements on giving him another sequel of his own, or not.

Nearly everywhere I go, TIH is said by most to be the better movie. I haven't even seen many people say IM is the better movie.

Hulk is my favorite, but I thoguht Iron Man was a better film...more complete and rounded, as compared to TIH, which could have used another 10-20 minutes...but what this article fails to mention is this:

http://movies.yahoo.com/movie/1807592188/info - C grade for Hulk
http://movies.yahoo.com/movie/1808495230/info - B+ grade for TIH

http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/hulk/reviews_users.php - 45% for Hulk
http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/the_incredible_hulk/reviews_users.php - 89% for TIH

There is something called analysis, and evidently, some people are too stupid to use it. TIH's B.O. totals might not be that much more than Hulk's (Eventhough TIH still looks to deliver $280 million WW vice $245, but what's $35 million...chump change...), the public's reaction to TIH has been far greater for those WHO HAVE SEEN it. The problem with TIH had more to do with poor marketing, picking a bad time of the year, and publicly fighting with the lead, rather than the character or the movie. Marvel would be absolutely stupid to dump this franchise imho...

FF cost significantly less than TIH. Maybe $50 million less. FF was significantly more successful financially than TIH as a result.

FF wasn't as profitable for Fox, as TIH stands to be for Marvel...FF's movie delivered a better ROI for the film, but Fox but they had to split the profits with Marvel, whereas Marvel has to share no profits with anyone. Uni gets their fees ofcourse, but nothing more, and Marvel gets to keep the movie...so 10 years down the line, they can re-launch stuff on DVD and make more money, like disney does..just imagine...Iron Man, TIH, IM2, Avengers, Cap, Thor...the combo package for $99 dollars...lol.

I'd like to see a sequel but all we can do is wait for it... Really though, For any marvel movie, I'd just like to see cyclops come back :P

The crappy CGI killed the Hulk. Fanboys loved it because it looked just like the comics. However, they forget that the general public don't read comics and that what sells tickets. It's hard to put stock in a character when all your thinking is how utter fake it all looks. They should have gone with a real live actor..nuff said

Lol... I am speechless.

What makes you guys so sure Hulk will even be in Avengers?

Given that it is almost impossible that we won't see Avengers until after Iron Man 2, doesn't that mean you're done already?

Probably. Currently, I'm disappointed, confused, and bitter about the movie falling short of what I felt were my personal realistic grounded expectations. I blame the yearlong lack of any promotion, and Marvel for what appears to me pretty much expecting the movie to fail. We got a good Hulk film, the reviews and word of mouth were strong among the fans, but Marvel and most importantly UNIVERSAL DID NOT PROMOTE THE FILM IN THE RIGHT WAY. Using the film as a marketing test was bulls#!t. Blitzkrieg promotion, yeah, no s#!t it doesn't work for a superhero franchise.

Between this and whats going on in the comics (Hulk Movie=Lack of Hulk on the printed page) I'm pretty much done believing Marvel cares about this character, or it's fans. I'm also going to be very bitter toward any of these future Marvel film projects, since they are more interested to do what will amount to a live action Superfriends film in the publics eyes, than doing the character right.

That is the most bone headed comment someone could make. "The FX looked crappy. They needed to make it look worse dammit, thats what the general public want!"

Might as well saying they shouldn't have Banner get angry and Transform into the Hulk, he just puts on a Kevlar Battlesuit called the Hulk. Because that sells tickets.

What makes you guys so sure Hulk will even be in Avengers?

From the Director of The INcredible Hulk

“Is he enjoying it? Is he malicious? That’s what’s great about Edward. You don’t know if he’s a good guy or bad guy," Leterrier said. “So that last shot of the movie, if you decide that he’s smiling, in control, then he’s a good guy, that’s ‘The Hulk 2'. If Hulk is a failure, then he looks up and smirks and that’s eventually the Hulk of the Avengers — the uncontrollable beast that they need to team up to stop.”

Not to mention, the whole avenger thing is mentioned at the end of The Incredible Hulk.

and, the fact that Hulk was in Avengers #1, and plays a role in the early days, not to mention he also does in the Ultimates. and i think its been mentioned in press releases im not sure.

But Hulk will definetly be in the Avengers movie.
