Independence Day 2? - Part 1

^ I finally allowed my free update to happen just this past Monday... Turns out, it's seems to be pretty much the same as 8.1.

What do people think the world will look like after the aliens have been defeated?

I honestly believe they'll go in a Robotech-esque direction and have a huge faction travel into space to find the alien's homeworld to finish them off, leaving the rest to clean up earth (and possibly be attacked by another alien race).

This is getting an iMax 3D viewing from me. and I'm even gonna pay full price for it.

fixed easily... you just write it like he and Levinson sent him off on some secret mission and faking his death was "all a part of the plan"

Smith got abducted by the aliens whilst on a mission and the gov'ment decided to keep it secret. some wikileaks will cause the 'son' to discover his father might still be alive and at that very moment they recieve a hidden message from big willie from a galaxy far far away.

opening for ID3.

however, you never know. Will made the error of his life on saying no to the matrix and yes to WWW. you'd expect him to learn from that, but instead he said yes to 'after earth' and no to independence day 2. yeah........go figure.

the official story, on the website, is that Captain Stephen Hiller died during a test flight of one of the first hybrid jet fighters

As dumb as this movie might be, I'm seeing this in D-Box. (It will be my first time)

That is also the the story in the prequel novel and the novelization from Audible.
The best chance of seeing Hiller in subsequent films would be Flashbacks, IMO,

What does everyone think of the possible climax of the movie? Seems like a giant alien mother will be part of the 3rd act.

Granted, he technically chose to do Suicide Squad over over this film but I would have much rather have seen him in this. The original basically launched his career and made him a movie star. Even though it was an ensemble, his character was a major part of it's success. He was definitely the standout.

I still want to see this and I'll probably enjoy it (I have alot of nostalgia for the original), it just feels really off without Smith's involvement. It doesn't feel right.

the only thing I do not like about ID42 is the lack of David Arnold his score was one of my fave things bout the first film

That was really great. I have a feeling this score won't sound as upbeat and heroic.

I actually hope they bring back the old score in some capacity.

Yeah I'm pretty disappointed but unsurprised that Arnold wasn't brought back. I don't think he and Emmerich have worked together officially since Godzilla 98.

David Arnold's sound isn't the same now as it was with Emmerich back then. So would David Arnold's return been that great?

David Arnold's work on the Bond films was so great and has become part of the iconic music we're used to hearing in a modern Bond film. Did so well blending the songs into the score and keeping the score fresh. Definitely one of my favourite composers.
