He seems to be enjoying this grip. Is this a romance poster? :hehe:

Could this film be the next Jurassic World and reach 1.5 billion dollars at the box office?

If Smith had come back, I think it would've been more likely. Though, you never know.

I think if Smith has come back, it would have made a billion. I'm on the fence for this but a shot of him and Goldblum together and I would have been there opening weekend.

ehhh, JW had none of the original cast and made a mint
BD Wong was in both movies.

I have to admit I wasn't really interested in the sequel but the viral marketing campaign showing Earth's new defences and the overall unified state of the planet has upped my interest.

I hope we get further glimpses of the new global geopolitical order in the movie before it goes into the alien invasion action.

Highly doubt it. The reactions to the trailers and marketing campaign have been largely positive so far unless I'm mistaken, so if reviews and word of mouth are good I could see it opening 100m+ domestically.

I reckon it will do similar numbers to the previous movie worldwide.

I don't think this will go as high as Jurassic World, but I can see it making over a billion.

5 minute trailer

It's looking fun. And nice to see the old laser back.

It feels like they're leaning on the older cast more for marketing. I hope it's indicative of the film.

I'm not sure. Imo Its about 15 years to late to cash in off the last one. Will the public take to yet another alien invasion film? We shall see.

I mean, how many alien invasion films, that aren't like mid or low budget have there been lately? They've had a **** ton of YA based flicks that are about aliens.

I think that trailer will put butts in the seats.

I bet this time we upload a Google chromecast to beat them.

Battleship and Battle: Los Angeles weren't that long ago

Man of Steel's gravity attack is being ripped off big time, bros. Some panoramic CGI shots make things look a little faker than necessary, which was also a problem for Emmerich in White House Down. Can't expect this to live up to the original, which was simple and 90s-ish in the best possible way, but it looks like trashy fun, like 2012 was.

The only difference between this and the original is cgi instead of models and a larger scale which makes sense in the context of the story. Its not like the original is anything better than all the rest of Emmerichs enjoyable dumb popcorn films. So this film really shoulfnt have a hard time living up to the original. The lack of Smith' s charisma will likely be felt tho.

And this attack looks nothing like the World Builder attack in MOS. This thing isnt picking up some buses and cars and rocks and debris and slamming them back to the ground in a confined location the size of a few blocks.

This ID 2 thing is so massive that its burning the atmosphere and ripping entire cities off the ground, dragging them across the planet, and dumping parts of the cities on other cities. Visually and in terms of whats happening its different from the world engine. The only similarity is gravity plays a role in the things function, but MOS didnt invent the concept of gravity as a destructive force.

I won't lie, it's a very unique way to do whatever they're trying to do. Terraform, cleanse, whatever the term is.

Yeah. They are essentially plowing the earth like a farmer plowing a field for a new garden.

Not too outraged on behalf of MOS here, the similarity was just there to point out. I do disagree about ID4, that film is such a well-designed little bundle, imo. Definitely neck and shoulders above the average Emmerich film with its characters/casting combo, as simple as it is, and which he's yet to replicate. In that regard, I do doubt film #2 will measure up. Same goes for CGI, there were shots in WHD were even shots of real-life Washington looked like green screen composites. Judging from this, he's made that a habit. To my eye, it stands out more than in other movies.
