That's great. Extended trailer was also cool.

That's one ugly mother****er

Good. Acknowledge that the destruction of landmarks is the draw, not these no name actors.

They rebuilt the Statue of Liberty?

Jeff Goldblum, Brent Spiner, Judd Hirsch, and Bill Pullman are not no name actors. Maika Monroe is known from The Guest and It Follows. Liam Hemsworth and Vivica Fox are known as well.

Is Big Ben really the most popular landmark over there?

Probably one of the most recognisable outside of the UK...

I doubt anyone was going for the actors in the first place, except for Goldblum maybe.

Maybe in terms of historic, maybe. Otherwise I think The Gherkin is popular but doesn't scream "This is London" to some people.

REal stupid of them to release a 5 minute trailer

Not really. It didnt show much of anything we havent scene. It just added a bit more to the scenes in the other trailers. As far as I could tell no major spoilers were revealed.

Besides, short of there being a twist in this film and I doubt there is, whats there to spoil really? We know how this is going to go. The aliens come, we fight, destruction-porn, Goldblum humor, we win or we get our asses kicked and win in the next possible sequel. Character deaths are the only substantial things that they can really spoil and so far they havent done that.

Ive never even heard of The Gherkin. Whatever it is, its name makes me think of the phrase, "Jerkin my gerkin.":hehe:

And I guess that answers my question. :o

And the second question has been answered.

What do people think the world will look like after the aliens have been defeated?

I'm sure Emmerich will come up with something. The last movie had us win, but it was a bittersweet win since so much of our **** got ****ed up.

Well, the earth would probably be uninhabitable for humans after that gargatuan craft slammed into the atmosphere. A craft that large hiting our atmosphere and coming through it would likely obliterate our atmosphere. It can only take so much before its irreparably damaged or blown off all together. You can see in the trailer how the craft is setting the atmosphere on fire. Thr craft is so large that it would be igniting a significant portion of our atmosphere. Then on top of that problem it is tearing up whole cities and dumping them on other cities which would put an unimaginable amount of debris into what remains of the atmosphere which would likely cause a "nuclear" winter.

But its Emmerich and he laughs in the face of reality and science.:funny: If humans manage to defeat the aliens in this film or in another film, Im sure Earth will still be inhabitable.

But Id love it if the aliens won in this movie and either enslaved humans or made earth uninhabitable and the last humans are the ones on the moon. That would set the next movie up as an even bigger underdog story.

Man I got excited imaging an alien invasion film where we watch them fighting and trying their hardest to win the war but it ends with humanity defeated and being enslaved. If they could pull that off well enough it could be pretty depressing and heart breaking (not specifically talking about this film).

They are known but they aren't draws. Not sure Brent Spiner is a major selling point beyond a small minority of Trekkies.
