"2001: A large group of aliens continue to hold out in remote part of the Congo."

Wow, so there are some aliens who survived and live on Earth, interesting. :yay:

It's hate he created himself.

How? Seriously, what has he done to get all this hate?

And please don't tell me it's having his son in 3 films out of the countless made in the film industry or his daughter having one major hit song out of the countless made by the music industry or pointing out certain weaknesses of Django.

I could care less what Big Willy does. Sucks that we can't see Hiller again but whatever. He wasn't any more critical than Pullman or Goldblum.

Anyway, if this is a hit expect a sequel. They can always approach him again (and probably will - I'm suspicious of this alleged "test pilot explosion")

Looking at the viral site, I'm wondering why they wasted time rebuilding their cities and monuments back up like they never were destroyed in the first place(with the lone exception of Las Vegas which is now a memorial). Talk about wasted effort. You'd think they'd have devoted 100% of their time and effort to getting ready if the aliens showed up again. I dunno, but that little part seemed like the human beings just didn't fully learn their lesson in the first film. Playtime is over. You can't afford to stop and smell the roses anymore.

I'm gonna imagine that's a big F*** YOU to the aliens. Destroy our cities? We'll rebuild them.

Might make the people feel better but in the end they'll wish they spent all that time & energy contributing to the effort to get ready for when they come back.

So if the next film is about the aliens returning, is that going to be the plot for 2 more films?.

Still don't understand how you make a movie without the guy who stole the first film :(

The concept is bigger than any one actor. That's how.

Look, Will Smith was one of the many highlights from the first movie but don't forget, it was an ensemble. Goldblum and Pullman had their moments too.

It's not like we were following the adventures of Captain Steven Hiller the whole time...

I'll miss Will Smith and it sucks that apparently his character died but I don't think this film will be doomed without him, I don't think he was the only highlight of the first film anyway.

Just glad at least Goldblum and Pullman are back.

No but he was the breakout star/best part for many people (including me honestly). Heck looking at the reactions to the trailer, it's constantly "where is Will Smith?"

I just don't feel like they needed to kill him off (unless it's a swerve), and certainly not in such an underwhelming/lame way.

Honestly, majority of the reactions I see don't mention Will Smith at all, just shows excitement for a sequel.

If they hadn't (supposedly) killed him off people would constantly be whining about his whereabouts during the film, just like they whine about the rest of the Avengers not showing up in an Iron Man movie. "Why Hiller not leave his position to come across teh world and fight moar alienz??? Why he no care about humaniteeee???" This disposes of him for the time being while leaving open the possibility of a return down the road.

It happens all the time. Years ago Tom Cruise was the most hated Hollywood celeb in the Internetsphere, now it's someone like Will Smith. I'm sure there's some hate around the corner for Jennifer Lawrence (almost there) and Chris Pratt around the corner, too.

Those damn good looking rich actors.

And here you lost any and all shred of credibility and respect you may have had. Jesus.
:whatever:

Cruise got his hate from his Scientology mind control.
Lawrence is getting disliked simply because she's acted like a diva a couple of times.
Smith gets hate for phoning in performances and trying to fame-****e out his kids.

I think the only time Bay's humor annoyed me are in the Transformers movies. And even then I laugh a fair amount, especially in the first one. But it's just too much a lot of the time.

I think in Bad Boys it comes off as hilarious. Probably because Smith and Lawrence got their start in comedy and are/were such charismatic actors.

Yeah, I love Bad Boys, 1 and 2, and both had me in stitches. Especially the second one. And the highway chase scene, crazy, one of my favorites.

I thought the same thing, and I think that's hilarious. Only in sci-fi can being blown up in a fiery experimental jet crash mean "open for a return". :p

So is Liam Hemsworth in the Will Smith type role in this film, where he's the main "hero" fighter pilot? That's a major downgrade in charisma.

Downgrade implies an inherent presence of said trait.
