Whether you're playing Infamous Second Son and its Paper Trail DLC or not, we're curious to know what you think about its approach to gameplay content taking place outside of the game.

You know what I think would be an awesome premise for the next infamous game? How about making the the evil ending in second son the canon one, have delsin go crazy with power, going around getting all the other conduits powers, and somehow bringing Cole back and have him have to face off against Delsin. Heck you don't even have to make the evil ending canon I guess, you could just say delsin lost his mental stability obtaining all these powers. Idk just a random thought I had.

My friends and I agree with this... Delsin could have had a "dark side" moment when [blackout]Reggie died[/blackout]. Plus it opens the door for Cole's return.. I agree with those that say he wasn't the most emotional guy every.. But a few years underground could have chaned him.

I got the platinum a few days ago, here’s my take on the game after beating it. Good game, but I thought the first two games were better. SS has unique and not obvious powers, is extremely polished , throws you into a detailed and dynamic world, and introduces many interesting ideas but ultimately doesn’t do much with any of this. I wonder if SP was forced to get this game by spring bc Sony needed a big first party game in the launch window. I cant help but think an additional 6 months with a September release would have improved things.

I was saddened to see how little choice there was in this game. The first two games handled it better. Infamous 1 had more ambiguous choices (who could forget the Trish/doctors dilemma), which I thought worked well. Infamous 2, while more black and white, worked in that depending on your choices, your story would be shaped down a different pathway. In SS, the only time you are presented with choice is when you are introduced to the conduits (which aren’t many). Really not much changes depending on which side you pick to play as. I was hoping with next gen, we’d be able to build on and improve on the morality system, but it seems to have regressed here.

Speaking of karma, there is a bit of a disconnect here for me. You could play Cole as good or evil and that made sense given the ambiguity in the character, but it doesn’t make sense here with Delsin. He wants to be a hero and that’s his clear motivation this entire game. He goes on his mission in order to help his tribe that was attacked. Why then would he go around killing innocent citizens on the street? Why would his brother, that happens to be a cop, be cool with that? It almost doesn’t make sense to have a karma system in this game bc it conflicts with the protagonist’s objective.

Story? Wasn’t a fan of it. To me, it came across too “simple”. There were no twists, no real character development aside from maybe
Reggie dying
, which btw, was extremely predictable. It was too straight forward and the game was just too short to really allow for a deeper story. Connected to this, I really had a hard time connecting to Delsin. He just didn’t come across as sympathetic or rootable to me. A bit too arrogant and its this arrogance which got him and his tribe in the trouble they were in to beginning with. I found myself agreeing with and siding more with Reggie as Delsin came across as a punk.

I didn’t care for the enemy types. Military happens to be one of my least favorite in videogames as they tend to be a bit boring and generic. I preferred the, monsters,
reapers and First Sons in previous games. I also hated the main villain. She just didn’t do much for me. I hated her and not in the love to hate way. She was just an awful, miserable, stiff person with absolutely no charisma.

I hated the lack of Cole mentions. In fact the past games felt relatively irrelevant here. It seemed connected to Infamous in name only and feels more like a spiritual successor than sequel. I was expecting more of a link to the events of New Marais and Cole to play a bigger role here, with possibly some characters popping up, but the link between the games feels very minimal.

The game was WAY too short. When I was doing the final boss, I was kind of thinking there would be some type of twist and there was someone larger to face besides her. Unfortunately the game ends there. I wish there was more in the way of side missions. Outside of the story, all there is, is the one mission you do with Eugene/Fetch after you are introduced to them. I really wish there was more side stuff like that as those two especially could have used a bit more development. The DLC we are getting, is something I wish was incorporated into the game, but I guess at least they are extending it, so that’s good

I liked the powers and thought there was some interesting choices but I was upset to see two of my favorite moves from the last game gone. Im talking about a shield and telekinesis. With neon, I could see you putting up a stationary neon shield and with the third power, you could have one that operated like the last games where you hold it to activate it. I loved picking up and slamming cars, so it’s a shame you cant do that here. Speaking of powers, considering how much build up the final power had, it felt as if they half-assed it

I will say the game is gorgeous. The graphics aren’t outstanding (it doesn’t feel like THE next-gen experience, I was waiting for) but the visual effects are amazing. Running through the street with neon, disappearing into a puff of smoke or using your Karmic ability, just look visually impressive.

I think the reviews have mainly been fair. I’d give the game an 8. The game is good but there just isn’t enough of it. I think throwing in more side missions, variety in mission types, at least 1 or 2 extra powers, fully developing them all, more enemy types would have gone a long way in improving things.

Oh and 1 more thing. I hate that after 3 games, SP STILL lacks a decent statistics tracker. I think this is something that should be standard in all open world game. It seems rather disappointing to not see one here, especially after playing GTA V and AC IV. That would be very welcomed

I agree.. Game is good but it left me with wanting more. InFamous 2 is still the best one, IMHO.

I wonder will we get a weather setting aswell as the time of day option?

I've played this off and on since I bought my PS4 and I really like it. My big qualm is I forgot/didn't do; getting the shards from the first part of Seattle I was in and only started clearing districts in the next part yet I'm still able to level almost everything up! WTF! I got my first Nintendo when I was 4 and grew up on games ever since and I can not forgive that I was not punished for this. Mind you I love RPGs and the like and l know better than to move on in a game without collecting all I can but I'm getting older and sometimes I play when I'm not always in the "right state of mind".

Honestly I had 2 or 3 districts just following the storyline before I got to the next part and by the time I got my head out of my ass I realized I now have to wait till I finished the game to get back over there and get all the other shards and what not. Granted I still haven't finished the game so maybe I couldn't have got those shards but I still feel like the games these kids are given these days are way too easy. I can still recall a batman game on either sega genesis or super nintendo that I didn't complete becasue the next to last thing was a riddle from the Riddler and I couldn't solve it even though I asked everyone I knew and EGM didn't post the answer either. (for the record I forgot the exact riddle but the answer was the brain and it had something to do with lobes, I was very young) So being able to google your way threw anything, and which I may add I didn't have to do for anything in this game, was not yet available.

I will say I love this game, I love the graphics, and I love I can play through the game again using evil karma and I hopefully wont have to watch the same cutscenes again while using a different power set and choice, that will just piss me off when I play on hard

Got 100% last night as a True Hero. I'm starting another playthrough today going for Infamous.

I find Delsin to be a far more likable character than Cole (goes hand in hand with Second Son presenting a far more effective, enjoyable story), so while I wouldn't object to Cole coming back in some game at some point, I much rather play as Delsin for now.

Recently got the Platinum, which although easy, I was pretty proud of that because my only other Platinum is The Walking Dead :)

Glad I played the expert difficulty with the Good karma, as getting a karmic streak was much easier with Good powers than Evil

Couldn't trade this game in fast enough. Trading it in towards MLB the show.

The humans are we're turned into conduits.

That's because in this day and age MP is King. I've already grown tired of TF.. Competitive gaming just bores me to tears anymore.

I don't quite understand your first sentence, if you could explain what you mean?

And you're wrong about this day and age MP being king. The Last of Us's biggest feat was its campaign and it got a 95 and it sold 6 million copies to date. But if you're talking games strictly single player and nothing else, Mass Effect 2 (which to me is one of the greatest games of ALL TIME) has a 96, GoW 3 has a 92, and there are probably several others. I know those are from last gen but I don't have much to compare it to as of now.

I think he means that in this day and age MP games have begun to over saturate the gaming market. They're the popular games around now. I dont think he was dicrediting single player driven games.

I've played again yesterday, and I discovered the photo mode. Man, what an awesome feature! Every game should have it!

I just beat Paper Trail and I shouldn't complain bc it was free but man what an annoying piece of DLC. I appreciate the work put into it as this was an original idea but I don't think it was implemented well. Too repetitive and jumping back and forth between my PS4 and PC to go on a wild goose chase for difficult puzzles wasn't my idea of fun. And what an anticlimactic ending. There really isn't one. It just stops. You don't even get a paper power, which would have been a logical reward given the build up. Im just glad they didn't charge for this

Anyways, I traded my game in today. I'll put this money towards Watch Dogs in a few weeks. I figure Infamous will end up free on PS+ eventually and I cant see myself playing again in the near future

Snagged this today and I'm digging it. I'm not far at all but I'm super eager to get back into the game. What's the length on this? Comparable to the last 2?

That's a disappointment with this one, it's a pretty short game, especially if you only focus on the main missions. Even the side missions are on the light side.

Agreed. Although I really enjoyed this game it feels a bit like a prototype of something greater as far as potential goes

It's very light on content, and is short, but the game itself is awesome.

And thanks to Havok I don't have to waste more time with the paper trail stuff!

Ah that's kind of a bummer. Ah well, it's early in to the console life cycle, I don't expect too much at this point.

Yeah, if you already like the game so far, you'll have no problems as it goes on.

there really are no side missions in this game. The stuff that's in the game are more like side activities, but not really missions in the true sense that the second game gave us

its a great game but the way I described it, is that it has and introduced a lot of good ideas and concepts but unfortunately doesn't do much with them. It feels as soon as a new power is introduced, you move onto the next and then the game is done
