Playstation Insomniac's Wolverine

I feel like if it's open world it could be set in madripoor

Hope we get him in full costume. Don't wanna see any nonsense about Wolverine running around in only his civvies. It would be cool to see a selection of costumes similar to how they handle them in the Spider-man games and give you a whole range from the comics, cartoons and movies.
This is Insomniac so we can definitely count on their game having multiple costumes.

I don't know, that bar design looks more Canada (or Marvel Comics version of it) and less Madripoor.

If this game is free roam, I hope I can cling to walls with claws on regular basis.

But will suits have perks? And should they?

Some have pointed out a few Easter eggs that seem to be behind that bar. Including some text that they use in Singapores language And that Asian emerald statue.

As far as the perks go for suits I feel like there's ways you add perks without going full spider-man tech route. Like adding quicker rage recovery, or extra bleed damage, extra xp etcetera, maybe even do the new hot claws as a perk.

I wonder how long it will be before we see any more of this game. It sounds like its a long way away. Spiderman 2 is 2023 and I think will be early 2023 and considering we are in late 2021 now 2023 early is not really that far of but this game may be 2024. If its 2024 we are likely not going to see anything for all of 2022. So maybe we will see something early part of 2023/middle 2023 or something.

The game is confirmed to have a “mature tone” by its creative director which many are assuming that means the game will be rated M.
Anything short of an M-rated game for Wolverine would have been unacceptable, especially since the Origins game was also rated M and widely regarded as one of the best X-Men games ever made.

I think it's safe to assume it's Madripoor, as you can see the name of the bar - The Princess Bar - Which I believe is the bar Wolvie ran as "Patch". Also on the far right of frame you can see the word "Madripoor" on a license plate or something.

Watched the trailer again, and I see it now.

Welcome back. I can make you a new avatar if you're interested.

Speaking of license plate; it's a neat one

Thanks! Haven't posted on here for like 6 years but seeing that Wolverine trailer made me nostalgic for the old SHH! Days, where I'm pretty sure I remember posting about what my dream Wolverine game would look like!

So very excited that it's becoming a reality. A Wolverine game set in Madripoor is perfect, when you think about it. A little Island City is totally scalable in size for an open world game, and the devs would have a lot of freedom to make it look and feel unique, unlike Spidey's NY City which kinda has to look and feel a certain way.

Also a cool part of Logan's world that hasn't been explored in a game or film before!

I certainly hope so. I feel like to fully embrace the potential of a Wolverine game, it's gotta be rated M.

The Wolverine isn't known for having costumes with an eXtra ability. So I don't eXpect it to be similar to Spider-Man's costumes.
Well in the comics when Wolverine was resurrected he gained the power to heat up his claws at the cost of his healing factor slowing down, they could probably add that, but at the same time this power pretty much disappeared as quickly as it arrived.

I do feel this will be a 2024 release unfortunately.
Announcement trailer to PS4 Spidey came out 27 months before September 2018, Spidey 2 was announced with a trailer two years ahead of release, so this game coming out in 2024 is probably not far off if you expect a January or February release.

I expect early 2023 for spiderman 2 and some time in 2024 for this game. That means we will likely not see any more of this game at all in till 2023 but this year is almost over and 2022 is loaded like never before when it comes to good games coming out in a year. So has long has spiderman is early 2023 I can wait now if its more like late 2023 for spiderman 2 I might die lol. Also rumors about another sony show in December but I dont really expect that. The only thing I really expect when it comes to sony and news this year is maybe 1-2 announcements at the video game awards and a date for the update to be able to add more space to your ps5.

2024 is far way off when you consider how many new mcu films we will be getting from now till 2024. Also ps5 slim should be coming out or already out by that time. And this IF there are no delays for this game and Spidey 2.

I understand the advance announcement because Sony are using these games to sell the ps5, but thats really a long wait. If I just entered high school this month, I would be in my senior year by 2024.

I also think the gap between sequels are so long. I feel like maybe Sony should hire more people. A console generation lasts for 7 years before new consoles are launched, and you'd be lucky to get 3 games from a franchise in those 7 years unless its Call of Duty.

So if its a open world game is it safe to assume he would use his bike to travel around whatever city this game takes place in?

Also it would be sick if he has the ability to climb up walls using his claws. I have always loved it when he did that in the shows/comics

I’m interested to see how he gets around. Spider-Man and Batman can both swing around and make it more fun. Wolverine can only walk or run.

He can jump from high buildings/structures and he would still be alive.

He can climb with his claws too sort of how Spider-Man does only more damaging to the wall. Likely he will have a motorcycle for longer trips I suspect.

Even though I can see them ditching the open world format in this, I don't particularly think the traversal will be hampered. Wolverine is fast and agile, can use claws to scale buildings if needed, obviously the motorcycle makes for quick transportation. I definitely can see a rough parkour, I think a lot of the traversal though will depend on environment they build for him.

Here's the thing, I don't see vertical traversal as being that necessary to the gameplay. Ideally, the environment won't be a big city like in Spider-man.
