Iron Fist Iron fist Costume thread

Most of the Inhumans don't really have costumes, in a meaningful iconic sense. They tend to be defined much more by the physical aspects of their powers. Only real exception is Black Bolt.

Which doesn't mean they shouldn't have suitably Kirby clothing, but clothing is not costume.

They might be clothing, but they look enough like costumes to the outside observer. They're not just dressed in casual wear like we'd see on anyone else.

It's like in all the various Star Trek series. Are these costumes? Not in a strict sense at all. But they have a certain look, whether they're the Starfleet uniforms or the alien clothing. They don't just look like regular people in regular clothing. Worf doesn't need to earn his Klingon ridges or Geordi LaForge doesn't need to earn his visor. Spock doesn't need to earn his ears.

Iron Fist looks pretty much like a regular guy here. We've seen martial arts films and series with regular guys in regular clothing hundreds of times before.

Is your Trek analogy a good comparison?
IF still has his chest tat and glow-in-the-dark fist(s)

I'm as bummed as anyone else since he has the easiest costumed look to adapt barring the collar.
Green pants and a yellow head rag with some holes in it.

Matt basically wore the best version of the suit during the vast majority of the first season of Iron Fist. It makes it more glaring imo.

First season of DD you mean.

And I agree the proto DD suit should've been the Iron Fist suit if it were in the correct colours. I would've been content with something like that in green and yellow.

He doesn't suit up in season 1. How lame...

That's really lame. You would expect to see it this season especially if they are showing K'un-L'un.

Idk why they can't give Danny a costume or even Luke a yellow shirt. Why'd they have to wait until the Defenders when Daredevil could get his?

Luke is wearing a yellow shirt in Defenders.

He had a yellow shirt in Jessica Jones too, but I mean Luke Cage hasn't really had an actual costume in years anyway. They kind of made the hoodie his costume due to the connotation with Treyvon Martin.

Oh man.....look at Black Bolt....freaking terrible. I agree with the above comments. Iron Fist costume is so easy to pull off minus the collar. I mean it is essential to his character as it is ceremonial. How hard is that??!! I'll reserve judgement, but this show runner has not instilled ANY kind of confidence for me in these shows. Hello...these are COMIC characters! If you don't want to do the costume go do another show! So lame....and sad.

Yeah, my mistake.

It's so bizarre to me they went that direction with Daredevil, considering the prototype suit even had a tied off part with the cloth bow-tied in the back and hanging just like Iron Fist's mask. But the idea of a billionaire rich kid moonlighting as a superhero and vigilante, the idea he'd want a costume to maybe conceal his identity is completely foreign to Scott Buck.

IMHO makes no sense, and it makes me definitely concerned about the future of Inhumans.

Why can't billionaire Danny Rand, who has been missing for many years and returns to take control of his company and save his city, wear a green leather outfit with a hood? :o

It's not really a costume. It's K'un L'un attire for the status of the Iron Fist. He wore it before he fought crime. Shouldn't be hard to place that into the story.

My problem is that Scott Buck said he couldn't think of a reason for him to wear the costume and in the same statement points out that it is a problem for him to go around fighting crime and not wanting people to know who he is.

The best way to try to enjoy this series now is to treat it as a non comic book show about an ordinary regular guy who does martial arts. I don't expect characters in shows like Blindspot, Hawaii Five-0, Suits or any of these shows to ever be in a costume, so if I have those same expectations of Iron Fist as just a drama then it won't be as disappointing.

I'm not going to boycott the show or harass Scott Buck or Danny Rand over this, but I am highly disappointed. I've defended this show through quite a lot over things I felt were dumb and pointless as far as the opposition. But I'm not going to defend this.

Surely we will see Iron Fist mask up in The Defenders?!?!

That's all we can hope for at this point. There's no guarantee we get more Iron Fist after Defenders honestly. If this show isn't as well received as the other they might opt to leave him aside or just keep him as a tertiary character.

But look. Petrie and Ramirez are the showrunners for Defenders. Those episodes are done and written. They're locked. The show is filming right now. So there's not really any guarantee Petrie and Ramirez feel differently about the issue than Buck.

In all honesty I'm fine with no mask or costume for S1. I fully expect a costume and mask for S2. NO EXCUSES Scott Buck

I am going to wait and see here, give it a chance. Maybe it will be fine in context of the show.

I guess my frustration is that as a longtime Iron Fist fan, I've waited so many years to see this character realized onscreen, and it's a bit of a letdown there's no attempt at his iconic costume at all.

I don't really feel like "gritty" and "realism" really have to mean "no costume."

Moon Knight is another beloved character I want to see get done. And what if whoever does Moon Knight gets this idea that as Moon Knight, he should just do his business in an all white suit and just put the moon emblem on his tie or whatever. That'd be really annoying.

But what if he does provide a convincing excuse and more valid reasons to pass the buck and say he's not ready for one yet in season 2? Then you'll fully expect one in season 3, no excuses? And then afterwards if that still doesn't materialize, season 4, no excuses?

What if, since Iron Fist doesn't have a costume, we see DD mask down in the Defenders instead of IF mask up, since DD is now the odd one out and they want to go for a consistent look for all of them?

Christ, don't even tempt fate - I can see it now, all of them in a room together and D/D looks around and thinks 'OK, maybe I'm dressed a little weird here' and stops wearing his costume.

If we get a S2. Worse case scenario is that IF tanks, doesn't get a S2 and instead we just get a load of 'this is what you could have won' costume concept art released online.
