Iron Man question

Technically, pacifist can also mean those who don't kill which only Tony takes to extremes.
is that why he put a "no killing "clause in the avengers oath?:spidey:

Yeah, but Captain America is in the Avengers and he has killed people.

How does it go against the idea of superheroes. This act is designed to regain the trust of the public for the superheroes. It is also designed to prevent another Samford from happening (which wouldn't have happened if Speedball and the New Warriors used poor judgement to attack Nitro)
Regulating them, giving them badges & telling them who to fight goes against the whole idea of superheroes. Superheroes handle what the cops can't, go where the government can't, do what search warrants won't allow. Not one person in tights has gone through their career without bumping heads with authority & that's part of what I've always loved about them.
And that "preventin another Stamford" is a bunch of crap. That could've happened to anyonge & putting the more experienced heroes on leashes doesn't change anything. Cops & soldiers are trained & regulated by the government & they make mistakes all the time. Innocent people die all the time. A civilian can get run over or run off the road in a high-speed chase. Someone can get caught in the crossfire. A bomber in a war zone can make a miscalculation & blow up a church or a school. The only difference is that the government can cover them when they do.
And wasn't it a squad of trained, certified SHIELD agents who recently got themselves blown up in a second attempt to apprehend Nitro? Wasn't it unregistered superhumans who actually took him down?
Look, the point of this thread is not to debate the merits of the Registration Act, but from my point of view there are none.

Ultimately no, it doesn't make him a bad character in my book because he is whatever character that the writers want him to be. Is it fair to say that the writers "want" him to be a total manipulative a$$hole *****ebag? Sure. And, as others have pointed out, it's not entirely out of character for him to be one.

In a few years everyone will probably look back on this and be like "lolz teh iron dik toatly fcked wTih his frends" and make jokes about it, until the next time the writers need a hero to be the Voice of Evil and poor Tony will get dragged down again.

Why is it that whenever you voice the views of trolls, it's someone who can't spell?

And until you said that, I'd forgotten that this wasn't the first time they'd gone that route w/Tony.

Anyone who thinks Tony Stark is or has ever been a pacifist has a seriously screwed up understanding of the word

A pacifist, by definition, is someone who refuses to bear arms because of moral or religious reasons. A pacifist will reluctantly use force only as a last resort in self defence

Tony Stark owns a company that made weapons for years! He dons a big bad suit of futuristic armor and pounds people into submission with advanced weapons of his own design on a daily basis

come on people Stark is no pacifist

not even close to being the word

I think paranoid, control freak, *****e bag, describes him pretty well myself ;)

Agreed.

No superhero is a pacifist. They ALL resort to violence.

The closest thing they have to a pacifist is Spider-Man, & even he has dealt out some vicious beatings.

The closest thing they have to a pacifist is Reed's mailman.

Tony always turns into a paranoid, defensive, deceitful, alienatic dick when he's under pressure. Anyone remember the Armor Wars?

True so true. I don't get way people they villainize the pro regs side when they act like a**holes.

A bit ironic, don't you think, that a team that calls itself "The Avengers" would be against killing?
