Comics Is anyone else just not a big fan of ASM right now?

*sigh*.... so next issue, Peter knocks out Al Gore at a G8 summit. Yes, you read that right.

I don't care what your politics are. Republican or Democrat, there's no way the Spidey I grew up with would knock out an unarmed civilian, let alone an elder statesman who once was a Presidential candidate. He can't web his mouth shut or better yet, just explain like an adult why he's wrong? He has to punch him in the face? What's he going to do on the next page, kick Hawking's wheelchair down some stairs? This drivel makes me gag.

Al Gore is not an elder statesman. He is a failed corrupt politican and an idiot.

You really could have just said failed politician. The corruption and idiocy is implied already. :o

I wasn't. I was equalizing it.

Politicians are not corrupt! What an absurd assumption on your part CConn.

You're right. I'm a terribly jaded fool.

Politicians are as honest and wholesome as the pundits that make up the prime time blocks for all of the 24 hour news stations.

Back on topic then: How the hell is Thor gonna survive what The Rhino did to him?

What did the Rhino do to him? Rhino should be able to hurt Thor that badly.

Did anyone else want to see what the suit had for sandman?

We may still get the chance next issue if he doesn't immediately drops the suit. It probably did something to turn sand to glass as a nod to that gun Ock used to use on Sandy back in the 90's.

Personally, I can't wait until next issue. This arc seems great and that new suit looks awesome. Plus, the last issue was left on kind of a cliffhanger

I thought OMD sucked, HATED the dealing with the Devil business, but I don't get this OBSESSION/anger with it. I find it weird how people still complain about it, saying it ruined Spidey forever or some other hyperbolic nonsense. I just cant wrap my head around this, "MJ and Peter are MEANT to be together! He's not even the real spider-man anymore!" It was just a sh***y story, and its over now. I guess I'm just shocked at how SERIOUS people take this.

And sure, character progression in nice (like Peter's job at Horizon, or him being an Avenger), but this is comics we're talking about here, mainstream comics at that. How can people be so surprised that Marvel wants Peter to have a status quo and not age? Peter was never going to get older and have a bunch of kids running around, at least not in the 616. Things will change, jobs, gfs, supporting cast, but in the end it will always be the "same".

It sucked. Its done. Get over it.

Long delayed response.

Am over it. Hence why it took weeks to return to this thread. ;)

But I grew up on Spidey in the '90s and read the 2000s. I read much of the '60s-'80s stuff growing up in TPB, etc. I grew up with a PP that grew from high school loser to responsible, married adult. They killed that version of the character with OMD. As that is how I grew up viewing Pete and how they retconned 20 years of stories....well why do I want to read their more product-brand friendly mascot? That's how I view the character now. I am not really angry or upset about it. It just killed absolutely all my entire interest in the character because he now lacks what made him so interesting. Instead, he's just like everybody else in the genre. A logo having the same adventure again and again with no sense of progression. Oh well.

This thread has gone on much longer than I expected.

Oh, and DA, you and MOTB have known each other for 12 years. That's creepy ****.

right, right, right....

:whatever:

That was fun.

Yes... it was...

Look, I'm not going to argue whether you like the direction of the book or not... it's all subjective and I can respect your opinion of not liking it... even though I don't believe you've read any of the newer stories... though it's possible that you may have.

However, I call on your comment of how Marvel "retconned 20 years of stories", which has cearly been established that that is not the case... the stories that you read from 1987 to 2007 still happened... just with Peter and MJ as a common-law couple...

Whether you want to think that that is stupid... again, that would be your opinion... one that I will respect.

I'm just helping you with the facts...

:yay:

So wait...you both posted in the Spider-Man boards for 4 years without running into each other?

I think he is talking about you and him, not DA and him

Oh. Duh.

Yes. It is creepy.

Especially since I was 16 when I started posting here, and TMOTB was a mature manther of like 48.

Which is pretty dumb to change. :o

I wasn't arguing that it was good/bad... just the fact that the stories still occured in the minds of all Marvel Universe people involved.
