Is it just me, or does this movie seemed OVER CRAMMED?

What about we see the movie before calling it anything?

I look at it this way, with more characters, Raimi won't fill up the film with unnecessary lovey-dovey scenes like in Spider-Man 2. That film really dragged in the middle.

There will be more things going on at once.
those love scenes kept the the story togeather, there is alot of action in spidey3, and im happy because of that, in the spiderman movies, you need romance and action.

look at fantastic four. They had to introduce a lot of characters and still have a stoy line with action. They did the best they could thats why the next one will be much better. My point is that this movie has alot of people to introduce Sandman, Eddie, Gwen, Mystirio, More on Harrys story line, and explain to the audience about the alien costume and stuff.
Venom's story line is so huge I think it would take two movies to tell so by adding more stuff to the equation feels crammed
But I do trust sam so I won't worry about it.

That would be so cool if a fourth one was being made back to back.

I don't think so. I thought those scenes did nothing but fill up space.

It would have been better if Raimi had not gone with inhibitor chip Doc Ock, if he had shown Ock as an ******* really into his work before the accident, then Raimi could have made a great story about how if Peter wasn't responsible with his powers he could turn out just like Doc Ock did.

But, oppurtunity wasted.

I don't think it will be over crammed, yes, I know it looks that way, but I think Sam will deliver. He brought us the first two films, I see no reason why he has to fail this time around. This is the film i'm anticipating the most for 2007. But as i've said before, i'll hold judgement until after i've actually seen the film.

I trust Raimi, but I'm so worried the series will turn into this. Especially if Raimi and company do decide to leave after part 3.

I don't think the movie will be over crammed. Concerning the villains: We have our main villain... Sandman. Harry has been set up in the previous films... he only has to attack now, we know his reasons. And along with the whole sandman-thing we have the set up for Eddie... I think it's safe to say that he'll be Venom for a rather short time in the movie.
I think all will play out well...

I agree with you 100% on that.

The film is not overcrammed.

Yes, ofcourse we have 4 villains this time, but who cares?! That's just more fights and action, which is alright with me.

"Flint Marko/The Sandman" is ofcourse the main villain. His story is that his daughter is sick and so he turns to a life of crime to help get money to help save her. His wife will help once in the film I believe (i read it somewhere), but when he is exposed to radioactive sand, he is turned into a living Sandman. He then goes after more money, when Spidey attempts to stop him. This causes him to become a "certified villain". He now has to get Spidey out of the picture, but when Peter learns the truth about Flint and what truly happened to Uncle Ben, that might not be so easy...

"Harry Osborn/Night Surfer" can only be described as the "angry friend with weapons", no a villain. the ONLY reason that he dons armor and goes out with weapons and a glider is because he still believes that Peter Parker/Spider-Man killed his father, when really it was Norman's own fault. Harry is a very complicated and dark soul, yet i think he truly knows that Peter did not kill Norman. It is unclear how many times we'll see "Harry vs. Peter" or "Night Surfer vs. Spider-Man" in the film, but we do know that they fight atleast once. The end of one of their fights might not be so good for Harry though...

"Eddie Brock/Venom" is a villain yes, but he is only a suprise villain. Theentire film, we'll view Eddie as a jerk and an ********. Eddie's reasoning for hating Peter and the whole "I want you to kill Peter Parker" speech is simply symbolizing the fact that he believes Peter is the bad one. Peter does steal Gwen away from Eddie, but only when he's Dark Peter, under the symbiote's influence. Eddie's photography career was ruined in the comics by Parker, and it will probably remain in the film that way. So, when Peter sheds the symbiote in the church and Eddie discovers that his two enemies (Spider-man and Peter Parker) are one and the same, this fuels his rage completely. Lucky for him, he has a gooey friend nearby...

"Dark Peter/Symbiotic Spidey" is not truly a villain, but while he is under the influence of the very evil symbiote, he does bad things. We know that Dark Peter MIGHT 'abuse' MJ at some point in the film (such as slapping her) and we do know that Dark Peter courts the lovely Gwen Stacy, but it is unclear whether or not Symbiotic Spidey will do bad things. Maybe, just maybe, he'll end up soing some bad things, and the police will be sent out on the hunt for him. (hence the line in the CC footage "This could be the end of Spider-Man") But we do know that JJ Jameson will be all over getting Spidey ruined in this film...

The Stacys won't have TOO big a part in the film, especially Captain George. Gwen will have an MJ/Harry sized role I'm sure, but it will make for some interesting romantic scenes.

Aunt May is supposedly going to be desposed of/killed in this film, which no doubt will make Parker turn into Majorly Pissed-Off Man. But, with both Uncle Ben and Aunt May dead, Peter will finally have some peace knowing that they're together again.

MJ will not have a HUGE part in the film, but she is the main character's fiancee'/wife. Maybe they are already married, maybe they'll get married, etc. But we do know that Mj will romance with Harry just a bit in the film, which could make some very interesting scenes.

I have covered everything MAJOR that's going to happen I think, so just wait and see kitties.

CAH

For all of you who don't think the movie will be crammed, what exactly do you think a crammed movie would look like? 10-20 villans maybe?

Just the resolution of stuff with Harry, as well as a good Venom story would have been plenty!

I'm so sick of people saying this seems overcrammed. All of these things in the movie are pieces of the puzzle that make up SM3. A lot of things are integral to the story, and other things will just help improve it.

It's not like this is gonna be a 15 minute fan film crammed with as much crap as possible. This is a 2 and a half film directed by the same dude who brought us the first two. Have some faith in him. He hasn't let most of us down yet.

Wait until May 4th. You'll see.
two and a half hours? If so that would be great.

we know there are several elements to this movie but we don't know how big a role those elements play.

like we're now hearing about a movie within a movie. this could be just something that takes 5-10 minutes, kinda like the plays MJ did in SM2.

harry doesn't need that much time of development, as he has been developed the last 2 movies. i'm thinking he fights peter at the start, then we don't see him again until the end. sounds like about 15 min to me.

sandman is sorta the throw-away muscle villain in this movie. he doesn't need that much time also. they added the wife and kid, short simple story, look how much time doc ock's family story took in Sm2, not long at all. he's sorta someone to keep spider-man busy until the real threat comes along.

venom which they will build up through the whole movie through eddie brock is the main villain. he'll face off with spidey in the last fight sequence. he will most likely return in a future movie.

gwen is sorta gonna be cutting in on MJ's time. and i don't think her father will get more than 5 min.

and we don't even know how many of these elements work together, so maybe you could see gwen, Mj, and peter at the movie shooting talking for a couple of minutes.

what i said above could easily be done in 2 hrs, and the movie is probably longer than that.

What do you guys mean by movie within a movie?

I was a bit worried at first too, but I bet Raimi will pull it together nicely!:woot:

Now that was a great movie, although the lack of lenght made it a bit frustrating

After two exstremely successful spider-man films; The biggest and most popular superhero franchise out there (and well deserved, I might add!), I dont think we should speculate too much. Raimi and the team surdently deserves to go wild on this one! Raimi knows what he's doing. And Spidey 3 doesn't feel crammed at all, what kind of BS is this anyway?!? Sandman is the main baddie! Harry will have some interaction with Peter, and then VENOM will be in the last fight sequence. That means there's conflict between Pete and Harry. There's Eddie Brock playing a part in the film, and then there's Sandman as the baddie! We will be introduced to Gwen Stacy as well, but Peter needs a chick to play hardball for, when that symbiote takes him over:)

I'm not critizising the two first films, cause God knows I love them to death!! But spidey 3 really feels to have A LOT more "meat" on it, then the previous ones did. There's the whole conflict with the alien-symbiote, giving Peter an inner challenge. There's Sandman as the major baddie. There's the hating Eddie Brock, and last but not least Pete's new love interest Gwen Stacey. Too much? I dont think so, it's just so freaken cool! This film seems waaay bigger in scope then the others, and I for the life of me can't ****ing wait to see it!!!

Bottom line:
This film doesn't seem "crammed", it doesn't feel rushed (it's 3 years in the making for christs sake. One more year then the previous in production time). It has about 50 million dollars more in the bag then number 2. It has an even stronger story then number 2. It has the same wonderful team AND more added. The movie will be around 2:30-2:40. Not to mention that they're using a totally new developed computer system for the CG (that didn't even exist when they started filming this thing). If anything "Spider-Man 3" will have had the most care to make it work. It shows already!

Cramming may be a good idea, there doesn't need to exactly be a lot of fleshing out with the characters involved, it could be simply a story of how spidey is overwhelmed with current tasks and needs and starts to rely on the symbiote and all that jazz. venom only doesn't need much time at all.

heck the basis for most of his popularity are based on his first three showings anywho... he really doesn't need that much time to make an impact.

I used to be mad that Lizard wasn't going to be in SM3, but now that I've seen all the stuff that's being shoved into the film I've decided that it's just as well.

i felt the same way about how scorpion wasnt going to get a big screen apperance

damn batman and robin

WHY!!!!!!!!!???

KAHN!!!!!

*destroys a nearby desk*

*ahem*

superman 2 had 3 villains and it's my fav of the series

Batman and Robin didn't suffer from too many villians. The villians just sucked, as did the whole movie. Bad comparison.

It wasnt the villians that sucked, it had poor choice of acting. It should have focused on Batman and the villians. It should not have had Robin and Batgirl in it.

I wouldn't count them as three villains, it was more like Zod + two henchmen and then Lex causing trouble in the background. Also that movie had issues (cellophane S, memory erasing kiss, random re-powering). Hopefully the Richard Donner Cut is better.

I think SM3 will be fine as long as they develop the evil side of Spidey properly while he's in the suit.
