Yes it did need to end but it's one of those things that you want to happen until it does and you just can't believe it.

I don't want the Simpsons to end, I still watch and enjoy them occasionally. A huge part of my childhood will die once the Simpsons is cancelled. I don't really give a rats ass if their new episodes "AREN'1 AS GUD AS DERE FIRS ONEZZZ!!!!", at least the Simpsons is better than most other animated shows out there right now.

Only way I could be okay with it is if we got another Matt Groenig show(Is futurama's second run still going on these days? I have no clue) kinda like what happened when Beavis and Butthead was cancelled, Mike Judge went and made King of the Hill

The show is a zombie. It should have ended a while back. But this is hardly the first time they've talked about ending the show...

Exactly. I have mixed emotions about this.

This isn't just talk or speculation. It will either end with season 23 or 24.

Nothing lasts forever.

Indeed. But I don't see why he says it needed to end. Unless he's in the camp that thinks since he doesn't like something that people who enjoy it shouldn't be able to anymore.

The show's been coasting on the fact that it's The Simpsons for years now. It's been on far longer than it needed to be. And to be perfectly honest, if a show has lasted over 20 years, there's really no reason to ask for more. I don't like the way Fox is going about this, but I shed no tears over the fact that it will end.

I still enjoy the show but it not at the level it once was. It's better when shows go out when they're still at the top of their game.

I find it dubious that they'll quit before 25 seasons but it's possible. I think the milestone of 25 years and a series finale would be too much temptation for Fox to resist. Why stop just one season short and miss out on a potentially big boost to end your first and most reliable money maker?

Because recent reports suggest that they'll make more money with the syndication rights...a rumored $750 million.

So yeah, it's over.

Check back here by this time tomorrow. Reports say it will be declared by then.

If it's going to end, then I want a spin-off series.

That's what they said about NBC and Law & Order. Then again, the Simpsons might reach season 25 by default. With their animated programs, FOX doesn't really pay attention to "seasons" since episodes take a long time to produce. The focus is the production order. And, the Simpsons are still airing episodes from the previous order. FOX can't say, "next year is the last" because there's still A LOT of episodes left to air. The Simpsons have atleast another 2 years of episodes left to air.

Because why?

Because it's not that good anymore. Heck I dont even know anyone that watches it on a regular basis. When I was growing up Simpsons was watched by everyone and the Halloween episdoes were an event they were something to look forward too.

Heck I remember the cliff hanger finale and how important it was that summer "who killed Mr. Burns."

It ran out of steam a decade ago. And if you think it didn't well your just blind to the fact...

It should end but not in the way it looks to be ending. It should've ended on a peaceful creator decided accord. Not Fox basically saying ''Yeah, we're tired of you and we need that spot on the schedule for something else."

Yes.

In fact I forgot it was still on at all. I don't watch a lot of Fox, except on NFL Sundays and I see the commercials for it, I thought "They're still on??"

Blind to the fact that you think the show ran out of steam? I'm aware of your opinion. Not liking something is fine, but I'd never wish something to get cancelled/stop existing when millions of people still enjoy it just so I don't have to be aware of the fact that somewhere out there people are getting joy out of something I think is dumb.
