Infinity War Is the Avengers trilogy (SO FAR) better than the Captain America trilogy?

I'd put Avengers just a smidge ahead of Caps trilogy.

Nah. I still have to give it to Cap. I just HATED AOU so much.

It's not complete yet given it will be a tetralogy with Avengers 4 next year. I think we need to see the resolution first to judge whether Avengers is better than the other MCU franchises overall.

I have the Cap trilogy as the best.
Cap 1 gets better and better every time I watch.
Winter Soldier is my top movie.
CW is in my 6-10 range now.

A1 is my 2 or 3 now
AoU is in my bottom 5 which makes it not better for me.
IWs is top now 2 or 3 I have to watch a few more times.

IMO, I'd actually say they're about equal. Each trilogy has two great movies (TWS and CW for Cap, Avengers 1 and IW for Avengers) and one good movie (TFA and AOU, films which are similar in that they each have a stronger first half).

Not fair. Civil War ended just as open ended as Infinity war. And it makes it quite easy to compare them now. After Avengers 4 it'll be difficult to compare any trilogy to the Avengers.

No. Avengers hasn’t aged as well as I’d like. AoU was a disappointment and iW is the summation of too many moving parts. The Avengers film isn’t a trilogy and it doesn’t work to look at it as such. The Cap films work very well as a trilogy following a well defined story arc

Cap's easily

Ultron was just awful and IW is heavily flawed

I dont really regard any of them a trilogy. The 3rd film of each just contains too many characters to be declared a certain characters/groups movie alone.

Cap's movies have been great but I prefer the Avengers' films by far. Honestly though this poll doesn't really work for me though because CW is essentially another Avengers film.

I prefer the Cap movies because they have more drama and weight to them while Avengers is more of a shallow blockbuster franchise.

The tone of Infinity War was just all over the place. One moment it's dark and grim and the next moment it's standup at the improv. The Cap movies have much better balance.

This is tough:

The Avengers > Cap TFA, by a long way

Age of Ultron < Cap TWS, by a long way.

Infinity War > Civil War, but difficult to compare, as they almost feel like different genres, because the scale of Infinity War is so massive. Civil War is an amazing film, but so is infinity War.

As such, I feel like the Avengers trilogy is slighlty better (IW tips the balance) - but it's not really a trilogy.

it's a very tough comparison - and Infinity War takes the entire idea of superhero team ups to a new level. I feel like the Cap trilogy is better compared to the Dark Knight trilogy.

( Batman Begins > Cap TFA, by a lot, Dark Knight > Winter Soldier (but only just) Dark Knight Rises < Civil War (by a lot, CW is awesome, TDKR is kind of average). IMO Dark Knight wins, but only just - and yes, I admit my bias on this one !)

Cap beats Avengers trilogy. Steve doesn't have a weak film in the bunch, whereas AoU is definitely a disappointment and dramatically pretty empty compared to even Steve's weakest movie. In fact, I like AoU slightly more than when it came out, but mostly because Civil War used enough of it as story foundation to make it seem worthwhile.

One advantage that the Cap trilogy has is a very strong central character - who develops significantly over the films.

Civil War is amazing, in that it is both a team up film, and a film that still centres on Cap, with Tony playing the villain. Mind you, I think of CW as more of an Avengers film than a Cap film.

Very tough to compare these movies.

Yes, especially since Avengers isn't a proper 'trilogy'. We've seen 2 movies and one half of a diptych, not 3 complete stories with a beginning chapter, middle chapter, and end chapter.

Civil War may not feel like a concluding chapter to Cap's story, but it's definitely more of a definitive bookending than IW.

Cap.

In comparison of the weakest entries in each series; First Avenger is average but I have a soft spot for it. Age of Ultron gets nothing but contempt from me for sabotaging Ultron and being a overall disappointment.

I also think Captain America: Civil War is the best MCU movie still but I expect the fourth Avengers to probably change my mind on that.

So for now, Captain America is the better trilogy.

Infinity War definitely had an ending. A terribly depressing ending but a conclusion. The only reason it's not accepted because we know Avengers 4 is around the corner. But on it's on Infinity War was as final as you can get.

Hmm...tough call.

I say no, but I love Winter Soldier.

You guys are crazy. AOU may have failed to live up to the expectations of the first Avengers but it does not warrant contempt and hatred.

The fan base now is just spoiled. But I grew up with the likes of Batman Forever and Superman IV so that helps me appreciate what I'm able to watch these days. It's an embarrassment of riches.

And TFA was a nice little flick and all but doesn't hold a candle to a single Avengers film in my mind. But hey to each his own.

It has an ending, sure, but it is clearly not the cap on a trilogy. You can pretend it's not a cliffhanger all you want, but it's a cliffhanger.

And if you think I shouldn't consider it as a cliffhanger, then Avengers DEFINITELY loses to Cap's trilogy by a wide margin. Not because I'm angry that so many characters died/'died', but because I don't think the story works thematically on its own very well without being able to consider the chapters that likely follow.

Nah. I felt all three Captain Americas were consistently good (with WS being the best), while the Avengers franchise took a major dip in quality with Age of Ultron.

The Winter Soldier and Civil War are probably my two favorite MCU movies so I'd say no. But the 3 Avengers films are 3-5. (Yes, I still really like AoU)

AOU is not nearly as bad as people make it out to be, I actually enjoyed it I rank it over TFA.
