Is there a possibility of an Raimi's Spider-Man returning?

I would be all for a new Raimi Spider-Man film after all these years

If they could do like, a TDKR equivalent for Spidey, which focuses on Peter and MJ being together, maybe Peter is a science teacher now like in some later comics, and offer us some closure to the series, I'd be all for it. I am not sure what type of BO results we'd get from this movie, but I'd be for it. For me, TDKR failed as a conclusion to that series, but I do appreciate that they tried it. I think it could help the legacy of the Raimi films if we got a proper conclusion. I don't know if it would be SM1 or SM2 quality, but I think it would definitely be better than SM3.

But, more realistically, I think after Webb's series, they should do a spiritual successor to the Raimi films with a new cast and integrate Spider-Man into the MCU. That is what I think they should do, personally.

One of the mods (I think it was Spider-Fan) said it best, two's a trend.

I think SM3 was an anomoly and SM4 would have been great. That being said, I'm glad it ended up not happening as the reboots gave us some great stuff too

That would be me who said that :oldrazz:

The production of SM3 had so much chaos, and while part of it IS Raimi's fault, I think it is unfair to say SM4 would have been worse or same as SM3. At same time, unfair to say it would have been SM1 or SM2 quality or better. We simply don't know. I do tend to think it would have at least been better than SM3 because Raimi seems like the SM3 experience was a souring one, and I do think he would have taken more care into crafting a better movie (keeping in mind his and Sony's mistakes with SM3). But, we simply don't know what the end product would have looked like.

If Sony play their cards right with spin-offs and everything, there is enough juice for 20 years or more with the Spider-Verse. After that Marvel should get the rights.

I don't think a Raimi like reboot is the way to go. Say Marvel reboot Spidey late 2030ish or early 2040ish. That'll be 80 years or so since the Lee/Ditko era. The character isn't the same as he was then and he will change again in 20-30 years time.

Alot can happen in that time. In the last 8 years we got "One More Day", a sidekick for Spidey and even Doc Ock became Spider-Man. Society will be different. The films will have to reflect the middle 21st Century world. What are loners like then? What problems will the world be facing etc.

I liked that Raimi gave us the era he should get first time round. That way the interpretation will be different from the next one. Not many directors share the passion for that era that he had. Will directors feel different 20-30 years down the line? Probably not IMO.

Iconic characters like Bond, Batman and Spider-Man are strengthened by modernization. It's how they have been successful, and continue to be successful .

There's every chance that Raimi could return. Does anyone think that given the poor performance of the reboot that Sony isn't thinking Raimi? They may want him to fix the reboot with Garfield still in place.

There's more chance of Jim Carrey appearing in ASM2 than that happening.

I don't think Raimi would object to coming back to the Spider-Man franchise. He could take over for Webb if need be, I mentioned this in another thread in the Amazing sequels forum I believe.

It would be cool to see him make his SM4 bit that seems even more unlikely. And if you have seen the apparent script for SM4 the only thing that movie could have been was bad. Hate to say it.

I'd love a SM4,but realistically,it would be unprecedented to just dump the cast/director of the current series or have two different series run concurrently.

I doubt it, and I really hope not.

We've had Raimi's vision already, we're getting Webb's now which will end with TASM3 as well + some spin offs and a sequel.

They both have their pros and cons. Webb has the better Spider-Man and a way better romance. Raimi has better action, humour and story structure. Webb has been bad at telling a thought out story, a well balanced tone and compelling villains. Raimi on the other hand had a mute and grey Spider-Man, a terrible love interest in MJ etc. Both Webb and Raimi has delivered one terrible film.

I'm sorry but neither Webb nor Raimi have pleased the inner Spider-Man fan in me. When Webb is done I want someone else to take the Spider-Man torch.

A Spider-Man 4 all of a sudden wouldn't interest me in the slightest.

Very nice post, Oz. I agree with most of the points you've listed. SM4 wouldn't interest me either. Both series have their highs and lows. There's no need for Raimi to return and I don't see him coming back either...I'm much more interested in seeing him return to Evil Dead and bringing back Ash. It will happen. :yay:

I don't want Raimi to return. I want to see someone else's vision of Spider-Man. David Fincher comes to mind. He's my dream director for a Spider-Man film. Hell...I would love to see him direct ANY superhero film.

What if raimi came back but has like a producer or something instead to help out with the new sierars?

Only if it's a reboot series. The Webb franchise is beyond help at this point.

After Singer's triumphant return to X-Men, I'd imagine Raimi's return to Spider-Man after this god-awful movie would be something of a tour de force. Then again, the powers that be who are responsible for the franchise overall still seem to be pulling the strings, so who knows? I doubt he even wants to return, all things considered.

I'd love to see an animated Spidey movie with Raimi behind it and with Tobey,Kirsten and company doing the voices. That would be pretty neat,I think.

Always thought it was pretty cool how Tobey voiced Spider-Man in the movie games.

Garfield hasn't. Which is disappointing.

I wish they'd continue the Raimi-verse in someway, and this seems like a great way to do so!

When I saw DoFP, I felt a great wave of nostalgia for the series, and I actually felt myself looking back and enjoying those films more than I ever previously did. I have always been critical of X1 and X2 for many things. But, DoFP was a triumphant return and delivered the best X-Men film yet. It actually made me wish we could get Raimi to comeback and give me the closure to that series that I feel Singer effectively was able to do with this last film.

I don't think it CAN'T happen. If Singer can come back to X-Men after the way it all went down, and the spiteful things FOX did to him with X3 onward, I think Raimi could repair things with Sony and maybe get another go. Especially if these movies keep decreasing at the BO. However, it is certainly VERY UNLIKELY to ever happen.

No thanks! I'd much rather have an animated movie with Josh Keaton. Tobey's voice always annoyed me and I don't ever want to see that adaption of MJ again.

The thing is though, Singer was never really too far away from X-Men; he was heavily involved in the development of FC, for example. Seems like he steered clear of the solo spin-offs, but other than that, I'd say the franchise is still close to home for him. Raimi walked and has never looked back, which is why I don't believe he would ever come back under any circumstances. Sad, because he understands the character and his world so well that Webb seems like a juvenile amateur in comparison.

We will see Keaton and Burton return to the Batman franchise sooner than Raimi to the Spider-Man series.

Yes, Singer helped developing First Class, but Singer's return to X-Men was impossible when Rothman was at FOX. He only came back when Rothman was no longer in charge. Now, likely something like that would have to happen for Raimi to have a shot at coming back. Arad doesn't seem like he is going anywhere though.

SONY shot themselves in the foot by rebooting, this way they can't even bring back the old Raimi storyline to see if fans can come back. Their original decision was obviously inspired by Batman Begins, they just didn't realise that the film series wasn't even broken yet in order to pull off a stunt like that.

Gotcha. Didn't know that was going on behind the scenes.

Anything is possible, but I wouldn't count on it.

I would jump for joy if it did happen though.

Give it back to Marvel, let them continue doing it the way it was. The right way.

I hope you're not insinuating that Raimi's films were "doing it the right way", because if you are, oh boy :o....
