I kind of like it...

(runs away)

I like how it isn't symetrical.

Looks like a big guy made out of rock. The Thing is a big guy made out of rock. This is the best version of the Thing we've gotten thus far. Though, given the attitudes of this board, there was literally nothing they could do to please anyone.

Looks like a dog

If someone on reddit could do that in Photoshop in their spare time think how awesome fox could have made it if they actually cared about comic book accuracy. Because I'm someone who likes the Thing from what we've seen, but i would prefer the version you think looks like a dog.

They would have pleased me if they gave us something that looked like The Thing. If they had just given us something that looked like the leaked bust, I would have been happy.

Patton Oswald looks like a man. Superman is a man. Patton Oswalt looks like Superman.

Really dude?

But no, you're right. That looks nothing like The Thing and if they hadn't told us it was the Thing in an press release nobody here, nor anywhere, would know just what we're looking at. Could be anybody, seeing as the design is so atrocious.

It all comes down to nitpicking. Really. That looks like Ben Grimm aka The Thing to me, san brow. And think about it, is the brow really the most defining aspect of that character? Does the brow make or break The Thing in any medium he's presented in? I'd argue nope.

The edited version with the brow is LIGHT YEARS better that without....even that much would help. If you know what's good for you, GO BACK AND CORRECT THAT IN POST-PRODUCTION CGI!!!!!

The brow is the source of his powers. Of course it makes or breaks the Thing.:o

Plot twist: The brow is THE Thing!

We've heard this argument before though, haven't we?

Does Johnny being black make or break the Human Torch?
Does Sue and Johnny being adopted siblings make or break the relationship?
Does Ben being short and slender pre-transformation make or break the character?
Does Reed, Ben and Johnny all being the same age make or break their relationships?
Do the containment suits make or break the team?
Do the vents and springs make or break the team?
Does Doom being Domashev make or break the character?
Does Domashev being an angry blogger make or break the character?
Does not having a brow make or break Ben?

Do any one of these creative changes make or break the FF? Not at all.
But once you start adding them all up, the FF breaks.

As you and I both agreed on page two of this very thread, this looks like the Thing:

You said:

That's what the Thing should look like. Please let that happen!!!

But we didn't get that, did we? Instead, we got this:

There's no way I can be happy with that. If you are, great, but I've been hoping for the Thing all this time and I'm not happy with what we got.

I wouldn't say I'm overly happy with it, but I'm not outraged to the point many of you are. I'm content with the design.

I would say that given all we've read and seen about this movie so far what we got is best case scenario.

I think the thing that disappoints me most is that the leaked bust photo looked so much better.

Since we saw that, I've been hoping the Thing wold look at least that good and maybe better. It's frustrating and disappointing to finally get a clear view and see he looks worse.
