I love how slow looking he is. So far, it's looking like they nailed the sense of mass. This is not a guy who can get things done quickly, but god help you if ever gets close enough to land a punch.

Agreed

Yep... because a slow and plodding Ben Grimm is going to go toe-to-toe against the Hulk.

Oh wait, that's not going to happen anyway, so I guess it doesn't matter.

This is the first time I've tried to do this, so I couldn't get them exactly as I wanted:

I felt like the pic posted here was worth emphasizing, since it's the first time I saw The Thing with blue eyes. That's nice, at least.

Those are great Willie, thanks. I think these gifs put to bed the fear that Thing constantly moves slowly, for me at least, he just looks like he has a lot of weight to him like he should be he can certainly move.

Yeah same here. Him walking and moving slowly make it more realistic.

:funny:

So if somebody gets like a 10 speed or even an old moped that's a week away from being junked they're perfectly safe from this version of the Thing.

Oh man.

I still have some problems with the look, but I'll give them that at least he seems to have the orange tint to him, where previous pictures we've seen, that wasn't clear at all. Also there's one shot where you can see he's still got the blue eyes. I was really concerned about that, because we've never got a good look.

I'm much more concerned about the look of Doom than Thing at this point.

I want to see something with a good, long look at him. I think I'm liking the design a little more than I did in the first few stills, but I still don't feel like I can tell what he really looks like. He seems to look different depending on the angle.

He does look like he has a bit of a brow in some shots, but in others it seems to get lost and he looks like a CGI version of the Chiklis suit.

The brow is certainly not very pronounced like it is in the comics. They definitely seemed to go for the Chiklis type of look with the face. My two main problems are the no pants, that's going to look stupid, and the CGI isn't very good. This would probably be adequate 10 years ago, but compared to some other effects drivin movies it doesn't really hold up. They've got the blue eyes, but it looks weird. Can't put my finger on it.

They definitely improved on the effects from the first teaser (you can notice this the most with Johnny), so clearly they're still doing work, but they aren't spending much on this film, so I'm not expecting much.

The Thing's eyes in that one sequence look vacant, like a doll's eyes.

I think we're really not going to get a good idea of how well the Thing and Doom were done until we see them show emotions beyond a grimace and actually speak. Right now all we've seen is :thing:

Hmmmmm.... still not overly impressed.

Thing's character poster mostly just makes me wonder why they keep covering up his naked crotch. Is Thing that sensitive about having the Ken doll treatment? Or could he be anatomically correct?! Is this movie going to be like the naked Raiden sequence in Metal Gear Solid 2, with Thing's thing constantly covered up? So many questions...

I remember one thing vs hulk fight:

"Hulk is bigger! Hulk is stronger!"

"Thing is faster..., oh no never mind. Thing is smarter!"

As to the picture - Put some pants on, Man. Is he so addled he think that is appropriate? I thought Ben Grimm was resilient. Hopefully his pants just get ripped off (repeatedly, apparently) and he puts on another pair when he gets back to the Baxter Institute.

And, yes they did establish in the comics that Ben has his bits. Spider-man caught him in the shower.

If Thing has his bits, we can officially declare that Tranks inspiration for this film was saucy fan art. We can also look forward to an R rating and no legitimate chance of a profit. Sadly (for Ben, too) he's probably out of luck. He DOES have those extra fingers, tho- *gets dragged off the stage*

I think if you crop the poster just above his left hand and the title then it's not too bad as a poster. Anything below that is a bit bleh for me. Left hand just looks like a bit of a mess and I don't want to see a nekked Thing. lol

It's still a shame about the face though. Looks better here than I've seen it previously, it almost looks as though he has a brow similar to the comics, but his face (much like the rest of him) is so broken up and sunken in as to make it hardly noticeable. Too messy for me.

I'd agree that he needs some pants. But other than that, I love his design.

Honestly, (and I'd be surprised if it hadn't been mentioned before) it seems pretty clear that his body structure will be changing throughout the film. Similarly to how a normal human body sheds skin cells or scars over with new skin cells.

ON the pants note, if it's just a case where they evolve throughout the origin film, I'm totally fine with that. Better mean Doom gets some seriously drastic evolution by the time the next film roles 'round. Assuming the worst.

The real test will be the fluidity of his motions and facial expressions, especially when speaking.

So far, the only things we've seen is a blank stare and an frowning expression. Just compare that to clips of the Hulk from the Age Of Ultron trailers and you'll see the difference.
