They're all gone.

All the solid summer 2009 release dates are taken because W.B. didn't announce it. They have their date (May 15th) and its been open, but now today it aint. ANGELS and DEMONS-sequel to the huge 750 million worldwide hit THE DA VINCI CODE has taken it:

No doubt had W.B. gotten off their ass and claimed it earlier, A&D wouldnt of taken it. But now May is completely out of the question, they cannot go anywhere near July 4th; and early June and July are filled up.

I hope they have a plan or can intimidate another film to move, because now their really screwed. Theres nowhere to put this in the summer and unless they put it in the winter (which would be a bold idea), theres no where for the film.

Its Superman Returns 2.0; bad release dates could potentially destroy this films box office the way it did SR, w.b. get your head outta your ass for real! :cmad: :cmad:

I can just imagine W.B. putting this on July 4th thinking it Transformers 2 the way they thoguth Superman coould take Pirates 2

^Thats directly from Sony.

If your referin got jl not being official; that doesnt matter. You can always push it back; I dont see why they didnt claim their date when they had it. Its' stupidness on their part; even Fox claimed Wolverines about a month ago; where the hell has W.B. then?

We will get another film put in a bad situation financially and then W.B. will blame the people behind it for its failure

Angels & Demons isn't a sequel to Da Vinci Code, FYI. It's just written by the same author.

I meant in terms of how Justice League would do because honestly we have no idea. No doubt this will more then likely be aimed more at kids then Superman Returns was.

They can get May. There won't be much competition. Except, maybe, Wolverine.

I think this will be aimed at the Transformers crowd.

Excel, a lot of the 2009 films have staked release dates, yet most of them haven't started shooting, let alone secure final casting. Anything can happen.

The projects I see that could give Warner Brothers a gap to put Justice League in would be the Naomi Watts remake of The Birds (July 3, 2009) or Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (July 10, 2009). I really don't see much in the way of competition on July 3rd, and plus it seems fitting to release JL during Independence Day.

Being more aimed at kids makes no difference; there isnt enough room. Da Vinci Code made 750 million worldwide; I doubt Angels and Demons will drop below 500 million; which is way too big of a threat. Had Justice League been the soul film then, it woulda gotten all the buzz.

Now they are better off just opening this in the middle of December 2009 to be honest; the summers too crowded.

Same franchise; same fans.

Its that same logic that Superman Returns destroyed. It seemed fitting to that film on July 4th; they just conviently forget that Pirates 2 was a week away.

July 3rd 2009 would be disasterous-ITS TRANSFORMERS 2 2nd weekend!

If wb learn something from sr, its STAY AWAY FROM SEQUELS TO HUGE ASS HITS!

Its about timing and media; JL will get half the coverage it coulda gotten now; that puts a distinct cieling on potential.

I think Justice League could easily win against or scare off Angels and Demons. It's the damned Justice League!

Agreed. They will target completely demographics. Angels and Demons skews older, and Justice League will hit the 18-35 crowd.

Stop thinking like fanboys; it was that thinking that "Superman can beat Pirates; Its SUPERMAN" that got it killed; thats not how it worked.

DA VINCI CODE made TWICE as much Superman Returns and Batman Begins did, putting JL against the next film in the series is SUICIDE.

Excel, the reason why The Da Vinci Code did so well was because it thrived off the controversy about the plot and because the author was well-known. Geez, just because you work for BOM doesn't mean you're right every single time.

God here you go talking about things you don't know again. It was actually postponed. First movie to be postponed by the writers strike. ONly person cast was Hanks:
Da Vinci Code Follow Up, Angels and Demons, Postponed!

Angels and Demons is the first major tent pole to be postponed due to the WGA strike!

The striking scribes have been able to temporarily derail Sony’s highly anticipated prequel to the Da Vinci Code, "Angels & Demons." Studio said Friday that it is postponing production on the Tom Hanks starrer, which is a prequel to last year's megahit "The Da Vinci Code." Sources said the script, which was penned by "Da Vinci" scribe Akiva Goldsman, was rushed to meet the WGA's Nov. 1 deadline for reaching a new contract with producers, and came in with insurmountable problems. Furthermore, no cast had signed on beyond Hanks, report Variety.

The Vatican-set thriller was scheduled to begin shooting in February, with Ron Howard at the helm. Studio had set a Christmas 2008 release date.
"While the filmmakers and the studio feel the screenplay is very strong, we do not believe it is the fully realized production draft required of this ambitious project," a Sony spokesperson said. "At this time, there is no new start date for 'Angels & Demons,' but we are setting a release date of May 15, 2009, and are hopeful to deliver the movie worldwide to theaters on that date. We do not expect any other film on our 2008 slate to be affected."

Move is significant because it puts Hanks back in play to book one project before a potential SAG and DGA strike in June.

So now the date is completely open as the movie isn't going to be filmed. And you wonder why we goof on you.

Yes it does :cmad: :cmad: :p

 Wait... only one movie can be released on a single date now?

 Wait... only one movie can be released on a single date now?

When it comes to large scale, blockbuster event movies...yes. You can only have 1 of them on one date.

Okay first you aren't quoting Variety. You are quoting Deadline Hollywood Daily. Second, **** is what was actually said in that link:

"With the strike nearing its third week, Columbia Pictures has postponed production of Angels & Demons. While the filmmakers and the studio feel the screenplay is very strong, we do not believe it is the fully-realized production draft required of this ambitious project. At this time, there is no new start date for Angels & Demons, but we are setting a release date of May 15, 2009 and are hopeful to deliver the movie worldwide to theaters on that date. There is no start date and they are hoping the strike will be done to start the re-write so that they can get it out by that date. They are holding it but not claiming it. This will be pushed back till whenever the strike is done and they can do a rewrite. That is all it says. I bet it has been pushed back to not being made now.

That link you gave also has another link of people breaking the line when they didn't and other false line breaks:

Angels & Demons? I really don't think it will do more than 300 million worldwide, honestly. Da Vinci Code was huge because it was "controversial" ... If May 15th became Justice League Vs. Angels & Demons, wich movie do you think would come out on top?
