Matt's flood-the-internet approach to his career has had the exact opposite effect that he wanted. It has made him seem bitter, desperate, and delusional. However, one thing it has NOT made him is interesting.

The fact is that the biz simply leaves some guys behind. This is often true when tag teams break up. Stevie Ray went through the same thing when Harlem Heat broke up. He was left in Booker T.'s rear view mirror. He did commentary, helped Booker with a few angles, then became a trainer. Unlike Matt, he accepted his fate and dealt with it like a mature person.

Hardy's brought the dirt sheet misery on himself. The more he puts himself out there online the more he feeds the dirt sheets and gives them ammunition. If he wants them to stop talking about him then maybe he should shut up some and not put so much info out there
I think Stevie Ray was contemplating retirement anyway. He around his mid 30's and wasn't a spring chicken by the time Harlem Heat broke up and he was never as versatile worker as Booker T OR Matt Hardy. Stevie was more the straight up power guy of Harlem heat while Booker had size and agility.
It doesn't help that after WCW stuck Stevie in the NWO where he basically got lost in the shuffle and did the awful NEW Harlem Heat gimmick later. It was far worse than similar "replace one guy team" The New Foundation even without comparisons to the earlier incarnation of either team.

I'd rate them about the same. Stevie Ray held the WCW television belt and headed the NWO B-team (aka Black and White), which put him on the high mid card for a couple of years. That is comparable to Hardy.

I don't think Hardy deserves a bigger push now or in the last 3 years. I think he could have been booked differently just after the breakup to make him more viable in the long term.

Stevie Ray was a one time tv champ as a singles star.
Matt hardy was ECW champion, Euro champ, Hardcore champ, Cruiserweight champ, and US champ as a singles star.
They were both in the midcard but I just don't see how the two are anywhere close to comparable as far as level, status, and success. Stevie Ray really went nowhere in the midcard while Matt enjoyed some success. Matts run also lasted longer.
Hardy never got stuck in a huge group of guys that was below another huge group of guys. just WAAAAY too many faces with the NWO. Stevie may have been the leader of the B team but that really didn't mean anything. They were fodder.
Matts ECW title run was pretty good and his feud with MVP was one of his standouts in recent years. Stevie Ray was a so so big man but Hardy was more talented. Harlem Heat was one heck of a tag team but the Hardy's were on a higher level. More innovative. other teams had already done a lot of the things Harlem Heat had as far as work in the ring. HH was just more successful than most.
The only real comparison I see between Hardy and Stevies is they were both in great tag teams and their brothers went on to greater success than they did. But Hardy accomplished more than Stevie Ray and was given more opportunities to do so. Hardy's push was better than Stevie Rays because he deserved it.

To be fair though Stevie Ray never had the popularity Matt did as a single star. The V1 gimmick got Matt over pretty well as a heel. I'd say most of everything after that was due more to what happened TO Matt that anything he did to earn that kind of crowd support. With that said he maintained that crowd support for years after the fact.
I think Matt Hardy is a whiney, delusional, ego maniac. Out of the Hardy/E&C group he's easily the worst talker, arguably the worst worker, and clearly the least successful. A lot of his problems in WWE were HIS fault but some of it was because he was being held down. When a guy gets the kind of reactions Matt was getting for YEARS despite how they're jobbed out that guy deserves a bigger push.

I think so too. Stevie was never as successful as Hardy. But Hardy was given better stuff to work with even when some of it was crap. Hardy was never as good as he claims but when a guy getting the regular responses he is is jobbing to Drew McIntyre i think he can make a case for being misused. What has Drew earned in WWE?
