The Amazing Spider-Man J Jonah Jameson in the Reboot

The more I think about it, the more I'm fine with JJJ not being in this film, imo. For this movie, Peter may not even want a job or be looking since he's still in high school and it makes more sense that he'll want a job when he's in college and I assume TAS-M 2 will have Peter moving off to college and then finding a job at the Daily Bugle.

Yeah I think I'm in agreement with you there. He definitely needs to be introduced in the sequel though not to mention Robbie and Betty too. Heck I wonder if it might be the right time to create a Scorpion subplot as well. Or should that be saved for the third? Take Bill Paxton as Simon in True Lies for example.

I'm still hoping for Ray Wise personally. Make him a Rupert Murdochesque figure that we all love to hate sort of thing.

If JJ is introduced in the sequel (which is most likely), I hope he's a lot more serious. Not too serious. I still want the fun side to show.

And Hugh Laurie for JJ? Brilliant idea. That or Bryan Cranston... take your pic Marc Webb... either will be fine :D

I just hope they don't go overly dark with him in TASM2. Something less comedic than Simmons's (ingenious) version would be ideal to me. I always found him comedic due to his unhealthy obsession, but also a bit of a dark character that can go to great lengths to get Spidey. And, while they're at it, have him be a widower. It added great depth to his character.

JJJ is a fantastic character if done right, and I'm not only talking supporting role here, I'm talking integral to the overall trilogy status here.

Hey now, leave Cranston alone! He's James Gordon in the next Batman reboot!

Oh yeah? POTENTIAL JJ I SAY. I think we need to settle this like REAL men...

DUNGEONS AND DRAGONS, now :oldrazz:

I wouldn't mind if JK Simons came back as the sole carry over from the Rami movies as Jameson. He was spot on in my book even though he was a little too over the top sometimes. But I doubt he would come back, but my next pick would be Hugh Laurie AKA Dr. House lol.

Eh...pass. I don't think he'd be a terrible choice, you could definitely do worse, but I just don't see him as a great fit.
I think it was smart to leave out JJJ in the reboot considering how JK Simmons pretty much defined the character in every sense of the word, but at some point they're going to have to bite the bullet and reintroduce the character. I sincerely doubt whoever they cast will get past the JK Simmons comparisons, but lets hope whoever they pick does the character justice and not a rehash of stuff we've already seen.

Well its pretty much a given that he will be in the sequel. Now its just a matter of finding the right actor to fill the role.

I'm the guy that says there are guys you can cast and there are guys you can't. Ray Winstone isn't exactly a person you cast but he ain't a person you don't cast. So I'm gonna make a ****ing ruling on this right now. You cast Ray Winstone.

Great movie.

While I do think Hugh Laurie could certainly deliver J. Jonah Jameson's characteristic snark, the other qualities Jonah has--which J.K. Simmons replicated very well--is that's he's also fast-talking, overly-stressed, hypocritical, and a tightwad. And the one actor who immediately pops into my head that can perfectly exhibit all those qualities is Paul Giamatti

Yes, I know, he's actually stated that he wants to play the part of the Rhino in a future Spider-Man film, but he definitely can capture Jonah's personality to a tee. Just give him Jonah's characteristic flattop and mustache.

I'm also one who wouldn't care if they pulled a James Bond and kept J.K. Simmons as JJJ. He was just so awesome I can't see many topping his performance.

No to JK Simmons for me. He was great, but his was just one version of the character.

With this being a new start, I want a new take on the character and a new actor. The JJ in the Raimi films was great, but he was for comedic affect. I'd like to see a JJ who is funny but has a serious side to him too.

I'd love for either Hugh Laurie or Bryan Cranston to take the part if the character is used in the sequel.
