I saw that and thought it was RDJ for a minute

I honestly can't believe people act like they hate this series so much now. When Spiderman first came out, one of the favorites amongst fans was the portrayal of J Jonah Jameson, now he's too cartoony or goofy? C'mon now, if that wasn't JJ ripped straight out of the comics, I don't know what was
JDM could play older though. Make-up does wonders. If he got it(I'm not opposed to it) then he'd be the kinda Jonah that should have a bigger role and more to do in the plot.
In other words, they didn't shift time and place in Bond's life - so Dench remaining as "M" didn't stick out and provided continuity. The studio wants the next Spiderman to be a 'reset' back to high school and doesn't want continuity with what came before.

He was a 180 from the comic books. In the comic book Jonah's character was written to make you not like him. He wasn't supposed to be a lovable and comedic jerk.I know they said they are going with a new cast, so obviously Peter and MJ will be recast. But it might be a possibility that certain roles could go to the same actors. Who else thinks that JK Simmons should still be JJJ in the new movies? He was a spot on portrayal of the comics. .
JK Simmons isn't a loserNo JK Simmons, No Sam Raimi's loser brothers or kids, no ties to the RAIMI FILMS!!!!!!!!!
Get over it!

Jeffrey Dean Morgan as J. Jonah Jameson. Maybe he's too young for 616 J.J., but he could easily be Ultimate.
That would create too many problems with Peter Griffin.James Woods!

I never fully understood the hate JJ has for Spidey. So I did a bit of research, and came up with my own interp.
He initially hides his true feelings by thinking there are no hero's in the world and they are only out to make themselves feel better for whatever purpose. JJ has no intention of worshipping a masked criminal.
Then
JJ explains to Robbie that he was once married over 30 years ago. On the day of the wedding, JJ was shot in a drive-by and his wife was abducted...all by 1 man wearing a balaclava. With a bit of journalism,he tracked the kidnapper down. He only turned out to be the leading Detective in the case,he set up the crime to look the hero,as he felt unappreciated. The Detective killed JJ's wife, then himself.
Thats why JJ believes Spider-Man cant be trusted, and will one day be exposed as the criminal he is.
PSH is rumoured to be a villain??

Marc Webb is meeting with actors at the moment, filling the remaining slots in his 2012 Spider-Man reboot.
Francine Mailer is working through the night helping Webb find the remaining actors for the remaining roles. She reaches out to agents with an offer to meet for Untitled Teen Action Adventure Movie, apparently.
The latest piece of the puzzle they want to lock in place is J.Jonah Jameson. Its apparently proving quite a difficult role to cast - no big surprise, right?
Of the dozen or so actors currently under consideration (seems to be as many up for this job as there were Spidey himself!) for the role of the Daily Bugles gruff editor is John Slattery, one of the stars of Mad Men. Slattery previously worked with Marvel on Iron Man 2, in which he played the title characters father, and reportedly has a good relationship there. Can Slattery do grizzled though? that, I dont know. Could work. Sam Elliots name Ive also heard mentioned, but I dont know whether that got any further than an inquiry as to his availability (but again, someone has worked with Marvel already; in this case, Ghost Rider). He might be fun.
Webb and the team are reading these actors, and likely more, for the part over the next few weeks - no doubt complete with cigar and mustache - so a J.Jonah Jameson announcement should be just around the corner. Personally gunning for Stephen Lang (surely hes in the mix!?) or a relative unknown (Gotts to be someone out there from the theater world) who embodies the character down to a tee? After all, its not a part that really calls for a super big name - just a good, fun impersonator.
Whoever gets the gig is going to be hard pressed topping J.K Simmons turn as Jameson in the first three Spider-Man movies, though.. dont you agree!?
